I have been to a lot of CBD car parts and this is the worst. But not for the reasons you would expect. It's a pretty modern clean car park with lots of bright lighting. The problem is in the design. There are two way paths going around a spiral up the car park. The problem is at the start and end of each slope it is only wide enough for one car. Not only that the turn at the end is one of those impossible angles you can only do in a small to medium car. What does this mean? At 6 when everyone is trying to park and go to dinner, one person is trying to exit the car park, everything becomes grid locked. For example I was stuck halfway past the boom gate for 10 minutes because people was stuck at one of the turns. Obviously there was an unending line of cars trying to get in and the people trying to get out couldn't reverse either. Eventually we got through and it took 20 minutes from driving in to parking. This is one of the few car parks that should have a 24-hour attendant and instead it had nothing. Also you can see the lanes are so narrow that many of the spaces cannot be used because it is impossible to turn into them. The path used to be wide enough for two cars but they have added parallel parking just to squeeze every last dollar. Put it backfired because two or three spaces on each slope cannot be used unless you're driving a Mini Cooper.
Very, very tight spots and driveway once you get around the first corner of the parking area so not great for anything bigger than an intermediate sized vehicle. In some areas vehicles cannot pass going in opposite directions. The owners have obviously decided to pack as many cars in as possible at the expense of access. Price also keeps going up for weekday parking. It had gone up twice in the last 4 months - currently $28 for a day. Booking ahead doesn't seem to work sometimes either in that when you turn up the booking isn't accepted. Up until a couple of months ago Google Maps directed drivers to the road above the car park rather than the entrance of the car park. That has been fixed, which is perhaps not surprising given the Google Sydney office is within 5 minutes walk.
First time parking at this location and will never park here again! Whilst it was close to my venue, it was a very poorly designed carpark. It features a two way driving path that only really fits one car at a time. There was absolute chaos when we were trying to find a space and I had to get out of the car to help direct traffic to help cars pass each other. Definitely nightmare parking for 4WD's.
Very good and convenient parking if you have to go on wharf and pre-book online …especially on weekends
Just across the road from Jones Bay Wharf. 2 minute walk to Doltone House. Easy to pre book online. Great weekend rates.
Just be aware that Google maps might direct you to street on top of carpark which is point and mills st. You need to turn onto Harris Street to get below to Pirrama st where the carpark is located. It can be hard to park in some of the spots as there are cars parked at 90 degree and then straight across them so trying to reverse into a spot can be challenging without colliding with another car parked opposite. Or exiting from carspot if you drive in straight can be challenging if car has parked opposite you. Carpark entry and exit is two way so can be challenging when cars are driving in both directions as quite narrow.
Easy parking at Pyrmont located at walking distance. Easy booking and entry exit
The most poorly designed car park in all of Sydney. There is a sign outside that says “Parking spaces available” - however 3 levels later - there were no spots available. On top of that, the way is up is extremely narrow but has been designated ‘two-way’ traffic. This led to several, stressful incidents where you would need to reverse around a tight corner to let opposite traffic through. At the end, on the top floor is barely enough space to reverse to go back down. After all that stress, I was charged $5 on exit. What a rip-off.
We had booked parking for this a few weeks ahead. It was a Thursday day time. We got there and the car park was full. We had to park around the corner for $16 and the booking cost of $19 was wasted. Do not book at this car park it is not worth wasting your money.
Paid online and followed all instructions but still got charged $26 when exiting.
