We ordered the prawn and crab linguine $29 along with the grilled chicken burger and chips $26 for lunch. We waited almost an hour for the food and the restaurant was not super busy when we attended. When the food came out we were a bit disappointed as the chicken burger was quite small with just a handful of chips and the linguine only had 3 prawns in it. The food tasted fine but we had hoped the serving size would have been more consistent with what you expect for a pub lunch, especially for the price.
We ate here and had a lovely waitress who was helpful and friendly. The food was tasty and presented well. Limited menu but some good choices. I had chicken schnitzel which was crispy on outside and soft inside. My friend had the cheese burger which she enjoyed. It was a bit cold inside due to the high roof and no heating, but a lot of character and spacious area.
Delicious steak chips and salad. Cooked to perfection and a choice to eat it in the restaurant, out in the rear garden, or on the street side, watching the sun slide lazily into the distant hills.Food: 5/5
Ordered share plates. Pate with no bread....really. Sardines no flavour pickled vegetables was cut vegetables flavoured with vinegar. I was shocked that you had to buy bread separately Spent $20.00 just on bread alone.when you ordered things where bread was mandatory. I dine out often and this was the first time I have seen this. Freshly churned butter had to be purchased as well. $5 for a dollop of butter with a sprinkle of sea salt. Sorry guys I have been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years and a foodie. What I experienced was short of daylight robbery. The Ragu was the only saving grace. Had Tapas at RATS the night before and low and behold bread came with the Pate go figure. On the good side that your staff were great and very helpful. Kudos to them
Fabulous vegetarian meal - I’ve never had such a tasty vegetable mix and so fresh with good gnocchi too. Top marks to the chefs. And we loved the spiced beer vinegar topping and malted grits with icecream - topped it off nicely
Fabulous dinner from the new autumn menu, about which the wait staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The fried chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. Everything sounded great. We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu.
Haven't been here for years not very welcoming, came in for a drink and wow! Staff friendly, great beer and reconstructed decorations. Great to have the friendly vibe back.
A really poor & limited menu. Very disappointed with our dinner there last night. Do not recommend it. Am a local & my first time at White Star & definitely won't return. Gnocchi that was meant to be a main was entrees size & no green vegetable or salad in evidence. Chicken parmigiana....dry & tasteless.....& none of it cheap!
I had the misfortune to be invited here recently by friends. From a very limited and uninviting menu I chose the fish schnitzel. When it arrived I stared in disbelief; a wafer thin piece of fish covered in some horrible overcooked breadcrumb concoction, two boiled eggs and a small pile of caperberries. It looked ghastly, and it tasted as bad as it looked. How anyone could serve up something so amateurish in a "restaurant" is beyond me. My friends all had the ragu and said it was OK, but I won't be back to try it.
My husband , myself, and friends dined out last weekend. The server was attentive and even knew our drinks order. The meal was severed in a timely manner. We all enjoyed our meal.
