Staff from the lady who answers the phone to both doctors have an attitude. Rude and not helpful. All signs of strep throat were present but Doctor Donna Berry refused to do a swab test “ we don’t do swab tests here only if you were a child who is unwell and living in bad conditions”. Made to jump through two phone screenings to make sure you “ qualify” for a consultation, have returned to Auckland had a second opinion and confirmed strep throat- now on antibiotics. People deserve thorough healthcare, this was a shocking experience.
Don’t bother going here if you want to see a doctor. Rang desperately wanting to see someone and got what i presume was a nurse call me back and told me to get some painkillers from the supermarket or pharmacy ‘they aren’t expensive’. Had to cut our holiday short and drive home to see my own doctor who put me on antibiotics straight away. They also made a comment about how much it would cost to see a doctor which wasn’t an issue, and that they are busy. Negligence Don’t get sick in Whangamata because their medical centre won’t see you, assume you’re too poor to pay and just tell you to get medicine from the supermarket
Saturday the 8th October I fell down a steep stairwell, landing heavily on my side, the next morning I couldn’t walk, have bilateral artificial Hips !!! phoned clinic at 10 am there were 8 patients waiting for help on the phone. Lisa the RN was very professional and caring And I was booked into GP Tasha Robertson by 11am , Xrays done and back in bed by 12 midday. Great Service and recovering well. Thank You All Julie
If you ordered a Doctor on Wish this is what you would get. Avoid this place if you want quality care. My children have been misdiagnosed several times, prescribed medication that would cause more harm if taken, have been told there was nothing they could do and found nothing wrong spent days in starship as there was definitely something wrong even the phone manner is unprofessional.
Unbelievably my elderly mother was made to wait over 40 minutes past her appointment time to see a doctor. NOT good enough.
Attention was faultless however perhaps more clarity needed re hiring crutches. Told I would get my money back when returned $100 but when took them back only got $25 which was disappointing. A&E Tauranga were surprised at hire cost where I had follow-up treatment, as they said they charge $35 as that is what it costs A&E to purchase.
Had a really pleasant experience with most of the staff there. One of the receptionists was rather rude over the phone but on arrival, the younger receptionist was friendly, and accommodating. The nurse was lovely. Very considerate and caring. As for the doctor, Jess, I was blown away with her service and empathy. She got down on the floor to play with my daughter who was a little distressed, was so calm and caring. She even called later on in the day to check how she was getting on. The world needs more doctors like her. We had to visit the call in/drop in clinic and although it was busy, we were seen within the hour.
Worst medical experience of my life and I have lived in several third world countries. I went to this clinic after a motorcycle accident. I had a few open wounds and my finger was dislocated, the nursing staff essentially ignored my wounds and then I waited approximately 3 hours to see a doctor who essentially told me he could do nothing for me, except get me an ambulance to Hamilton. After agreeing to this nonsense I was told there were no ambulances available and that they couldnt book one for the next day as I would have to come into the clinic and wait again. Now my finger is permanently crooked because it was not re-set within the 24 hours after the accident, thanks alot. This clinic should be shut down for negligence, on top of everything they had the nerve to send me a bill for an ACC consultation even though one was not done and I received no paperwork. If you are hurt in whangamata, call st. Johns, dont waste your time seeing these crooks.
I would like to say that the care I have received from Dr Tarsha Robertson & Dr Donna Berry plus Nurse Jenny this past week has been amazing. Thank You All Julie
I am not a registered patient but needed to book a local COVID test. I highly recommend the Whangamata Medical Centre. The staff were all so lovely and made sure that I was able to be seen ASAP for peace of mind.
