They actually deserve a 3.5, but I just can't give them the 4 for a round up. They are pricey for what they offer, as it appears that they are imitating the Cicerrellos price structure. To be fair, it's not a restaurant, it's a fishmarket with a take away option. The ambience is fairly welcoming, despite this, and the visual displays are a delightful sight. The fishmarket aspect is very befitting of the menu, and the fish is a solid 4/5, with a freshness that carries well with a modestly falvoured batter that accentuates the texture. Though the chips are only a 3 at best, there are worse places to get fish and chips.
Such a disappointment tonight after last night we had amazing food from the same place we ordered 3 serves of squid rings plus 4 crab sticks and 2 grilled snapper it was amazing really lite batter so crispy it was the best we ever had no grease on the paper the young guy brodiee was excellent so good i fact both my wife and my self wanted to get it again. Then tonight it was a complete opposite my wife ordered grilled snapper 1 serve or squid rings 1serve of prawns and 1 serve of scallops omg they were short on the amount of squid rings and the prawns the scallops were falling out of the batter there was so much oil grease in the box it was soaked then the grilled snapper was uneatable there was so much salt and lemon seasoning all over it you couldn't eat it so I think it's a real hit and miss on who ever is cooking although the young girl tonight was helpful in refunding our money when I took the order straight back to them but I think I will be definately asking if brodie is working before I ever order from here again
Have been buying fish and chips at this place since they first opened but tonight’s order was dreadful. Cold and soggy and by far the worst we have ever had from here. An experienced senior needs to be helping the 3 young ones who were clearly struggling. We have never had bad fish and chips from this shop before
Brought oysters at $33.00 per dozen they were so small and very tasteless. The prawns were $44.95 per kilo, taste was very ordinary and a bit slimy not not fresh. Won't be going back there again. Very pricey but quality is no equivalent to price.
We just ordered a medium-sized chips $7. Very decent sized serving and opted for the house pickle vinegar and chicken salt. Probably the best chips ive had to date. Would 100% return again and next time I will try their fried fish game.
We had plans to cook Vongale and I asked the young girl if the clams had been purged. She looked confused so went to ask. She returned and asked what I meant…then went back to ask again. That alone should have been enough to alert us to a problem with this business as she still looked confused. I decided the best option was a whole fish. I selected what looked like a nice red snapper. This time I asked for fins to be cut, with head removed so I could make stock. What I got was a fish with wings removed and kept by the store….fins still on. But I did get the head. They are either dishonest or very incompetent. I paid for a whole fish and the wings are part of the fish needed to stuff it with flavouring and packed with flesh. They clearly don’t know what they are doing. Put all this aside and you will find prices for prepared fillets very high. They are most definitely not fresh and sit on display, grey and dry. Ever wondered what is in your fish and chips??? Save your money, go to Sealanes in Freo or at worst the supermarkets. I’ve always found staff at Coles very good. They at least know what they are selling and have a refund policy if your not satisfied, which I was most definitely not!
Staff members was friendly but the person who helped me wasn't aware of their produce, whether it was snap frozen or fresh. Was happy with the quality of fish I got but.
Very good quality fish and chips. Grilled fish option for no extra cost. Prices are not available online the only negative
When ordering takeaway, I asked if the oysters were fresh and told they were and were the same as the deli. While waiting for my order I saw the employee grab products out of the microwave and straight into the microwave on high for 1min. I was very surprised given the price and fresh stock is on hand meters away. Prior to cooking, I asked to see the oysters and he showed me 3 of them. 60% of oysters were microwaved cooked, shriveled, dried and tiny. I asked not to have that those ones . I also asked if I could have some fresh ones in the window of the shop and he said I will have to buy them. When I got home 6 oysters were not packaged! One of the oysters smelt so bad I threw it out along with most of the mussels as half of them were rock hard and inedible. This was due to being microwaved, simple. When I reached out to WestnFresh he was aggogant, wouldn't answer if this cooking method was business practise and really didn't care. At one stage when I asked what message was left for the the manger of business to contact me, stating, "you wouldn't want to know what they wrote" supported by a laugh. His email was signed Toney and his number where we communicated. Very disappointing and we won't be returning or recommend. Prices definitely reflect fresh, cooking process was a let down but most of all the way I was treated from the employee when I asked for the manager.
Terrible service, wait time was over 40mins with people ordering after me and getting it first, went and spoke with staff and was very rudly spoken to by a girl called Leticia. When finally arriving home with the food it was cold and over cooked, these guys have always been the go to fish and chip shop but think I'll now be on the hunt for a new fish and chip shop
