This place is straight up weird. I called up to enquire about boarding my 7 month old puppy and was advised to make an appointment to come in so I could check out the place and for my dog to meet the staff. I arrived after a 48 minute drive expecting a walk through of the facility which I never received and they also wouldn’t allow me to have a look at the kennels so I could see where my dog would sleep. Really strange and it caused major red flags for me. I could hear dogs crying and howling from the kennels however I couldn’t see them. Do not bring your pet here.
My dear old staffie friend, Cammy, has just had a 3 night “sleep-over” at the wonderful Wellington Park kennels and was cared for beautifully. Thankyou so much, to Emily, Amelia and the staff involved in making Cammy so comfortable. Great service and we will definitely return. Best wishes, Chris and Cammy Mt Gambier, Sth Aust.
?...seen very bad reviews so won't be using them....crazy they want to do a meet n greet with my pets!!!! Wat do u expect for them to jump up n down to these ppl....total strangers obviously they will be scared so will be barking !!!!! Very silly.....other places don't want a meet n greet they just want them vaccined which makes sense!!!!!!
This Kennel cost us an incredibly sentimental holiday for my mother's 60th birthday - a memory I will now NEVER have due to the unprofessional nature of the business. Initially, my dog had a "meet and greet" back in Feb situated outside with the kennel manager. This was a non negotiable requirement for the kennel before accepting in pets post Covid. I completely understood- my dog had been looked after at the kennel before. After meeting the owner, he was approved for his February stay. Unfortunately this didn't go ahead as he had a reaction to his vaccine. Come his next stay, due last week. My fiance and I arrived at the kennel 1 hour before we needed to leave for the airport. My dog was meeting someone he had never met for the first time, in a tiny room. The staff member put his temporary collar on and continued to hold him from behind - a very threatening position to hold for any one who knows anything about dogs! My dog growled at her as he was clearly uncomfortable in a small room with someone new holding him from behind. The staff then refused to take on my dog for the booked stay. The manager didn't even come out to talk or understand the nature of what had occurred!!! We had NEVER had our dog react like this before, he was clearly anxious in the setting!! Your staff need more consistency in policy and training in dog behaviours. I would also recommend a meet and greet for ANY booking. I hope the kennel can do this for anyone looking for their dog care so they dont have the same EXPENSIVE and POOR experience as we did - we lost our WHOLE holiday, hundreds of dollars and memories will will now never have. I will never go to the kennel again.
They take a booking for a nights stay over for the dog to get used to the place. So on the meet and greet as I did advised them my dog bit nervous around female and new people. So the manager comes out to see the dog with other staff members. Which made my dog a bit nervous as new place and stranger looking at him. The guy took the leash my dog barked at him then the manager says no no ,we can’t take him. Although the the aim of the Vist was for him to stay a night to get used to the place and the staff .How do u expect a dog to get comfortable so quick??. Shocking won’t be back that’s for sure.
Our Kelpie stayed here in 2021 for a weekend. When we picked her up she had a hematoma on her side. When we questioned what this was from, we were told she did not eat any bedding or play with other dogs so they didn't know what this was from. Ever since picking her up, she has never been the same, she, to this day, remains skitish and easily frightened of loud noises, large/spontaneous moving objects - something we never had an issue to prior to this.
A bit disappointed with the level of customer service as a potential new customer wanting to book. I sent through a booking enquiry and was told to call if I wanted to book in. When I called I was asked a few questions regarding my dog and being completely transparent I advised she can get scared of men and maybe a bit apprehensive. The girl on the phone suddenly said she needed to put me on hold to speak to her manager. She came back and bluntly said unfortunately they will have to refuse my booking. Totally gobsmacked I asked why? And she said that they have a number of men on their staff and in a sarcastic tone she can't make sure my dog has a woman looking after her every day not that I even asked for or expected that. They don't want my dog to have a negative experience and be put off kennels in the future but she can give me names of other kennels in the area... If I had concerns about my dog being there then there is no way I would even consider booking her in but apparently, this girl knows my 6-year-old dog better than I do after a 1-minute conversation. I completely respect their policies, that is fair enough but customer service is sarcastic and not tactful at all. One would think that building relationships with new clients would be quite important? That if you are going to refuse a new customer that you could respectfully explain your reasoning so the customer may understand instead of having an attitude as if you couldn't care less. Fortunately another kennels I initially wanted to book with is available on my dates and the owner very friendly and welcoming spent 15 minutes on the phone with me discussing their kennels, what the animals are fed, how they are looked after etc. had a laugh, booked me in for a tour and is happy to take our fur babies.
Very happy with these kennels. We boarded our lab there for week and he was very happy, healthy and a bit better behaved when we picked him up on Sunday. The staff were lovely though we couldn't go and inspect the kennels when dropping him off due to being so busy - this was the only downside. Prices were reasonable and we were able to have him walked, get treats, have play time with staff and other dogs. They also called midweek with an update on him and to confirm when pick up would be which I found reassuring.
I definitely will not be taking my dog here again. We dropped him off for 7 nights, and when we picked him up he absolutely stunk like urine and poo, and had dried poo all over his body. It took 2 baths to clean him. I hate to imagine the conditions the poor dog was staying in whilst we were away, if this is the condition he was in when returned to us. I wish I had read the reviews for this place before booking him in, especially the ones about the appalling conditions the dogs are subjected to, as I would have never left him there.
I made a booking 3 months out for our cat and dog, being told there was no room for our dog in isolation we booked anyway. We tried to cancel 2 days later because were forced to make other arrangements. Their strict no deposit return policy is extremely unreasonable and in my opinion a theft has occurred. Not having any of my phone calls returned by any of the staff or Amelia was also disappointing. I spoke to 3 different women and found them all very unhelpful in finding a friendly fair resolution. We have used Wellington on prior occasions and have collected our pets alive so for that we are grateful. I regret they will never see us again and hope they spend my $110 well.
