The restaurant is set in a historic homestead and beautiful gardens, the dining room is cosy yet spacious. A wood-fire was burning in the fireplace when we arrived, around 6.30 pm on a cool mid-August evening. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. The table had been set out thoughtfully, with bread rolls and butter curls awaiting our arrival. The host had been notified that one of our number was on a gluten-free diet, and had substituted the bread roll for gluten-free toast. The menu is simple, featuring Austrian favourites. The Tyrolean cheese dumpling in beef broth or Tiroler Kaspressknödelsuppe was an absolute delight, and highly recommended. For the main course, the Double Roasted Ducklegs, which seemed to be a crowd favourite, was excellent. The Wiener Schnitzel was well executed, the crispy breadcrumb exterior contrasting well with the tender pork fillet underneath. The gluten-free version of the Chicken Florentine came without the crumbed coating, but the chicken breast fillet was every bit tender, the contrast of the spinach and cream cheese stuffed inside the chicken fillet and the tomato basil sauce outside was a stroke of culinary genius. Save some room for desserts - they are all made on the premises and my recommendation is for everyone to order something different for all of them are delicious. Our gluten-free dining companion was offered a moist and delicious carrot cake, also baked on the premises. Complimenting the excellent food was the friendly and hospitable waitstaff. Michael, the host, was warm and welcoming, making sure we had a delightful experience, which we did. And we look forward to returning soon.
A hidden gem, beautiful setting in a old home walk up to the front door through beautifully maintained gardens. The service from the outset was very inviting and friendly, staff made you feel like you wanted to stay and just as more important that they wanted to be there. On the night we dined it was a set menu the waitress was attentive and our meals served in a timely manner. Food was cooked beautfully, nicely proportioned and well presented. I confess to having a well cooked steak which was still melting in the mouth without being over cooked. Vegetables had just the right amount of crunch to them. Desert Devine. Wine was reasonably priced. The owner paid pleasant attention to all of his guests and his two staff kept everything flowing smoothly. The delivery between each of the courses was perfectly timed. Overall a great dining experience unfortunately for us the owner will be retiring soon and this little beauty will soon become a child care center. Congratulations on your future retirement I wish I had found your gem a lot earlier......Gordon Ramsay would be excited to dine here.
The food is the best ever and Michael is a totally entertaining host. We have also engaged Michael for some special occasion home catering that has left our guests speechless. We love the ambience, open fire and conversation. It's a great place to visit.
Old fashion the good style service, linen table clothes and napkins, quiet carpeted floors and stately homely atmosphere, well presented great food. Beautiful garden settings, easy parking.... highly recommend.
It's a nice place to come if you want a familial feel. It's cosy and feels like you're in the dining room of a nice house, owned by a nice family who have welcomed you in for dinner. The food is good. Quite traditional rather than contemporary. I found all the ingredients to be of high quality and cooked & presented well. Nice flavours. Good service. High-quality digestif selection.
Offering a rather 'traditional' dining experience that I suspect hasn't changed in many years, the Weinstadl probably won't be to everyone's liking. Every time I've been there though the food has been excellent and the service attentive and efficient, and I hope that the Weinstadl always lives on as the quirky, hidden gem of the Valley.
Quirky restaurant hidden away amongst beautiful hill surroundings. Lovely garden. Was greeted by the owner and shown to our table - best to book I think. Traditional menu and the food was quite yummy.
Excellent restaurant, sublime wines and meals, great venue and staff, especially the maitre d. Definitely recommend!
Lovely little gem. Friendly waiting staff. Get in before we lose another of these fine family owned staples.
Loved it. Excellent food, wine and service. Beautiful surronds and very affordable.
