For decades, Australians have been told that Prime Minister Harold Holt vanished while swimming at Cheviot Beach on December 17, 1967. Official reports claim he was swept out to sea, his body never recovered. But what if that wasn’t the whole story? What if, hidden in the halls of Waverley College, lay the real truth about his disappearance?nAccording to an obscure urban legend whispered among students and teachers alike, Waverley College played a far greater role in Holt’s fate than history books admit. Some say that the Prime Minister’s disappearance wasn’t an accident but an orchestrated event, involving a clandestine network of individuals operating from within the school. Whether they were working for foreign spies, political rivals, or some secretive religious order remains a mystery. What is known, at least within this strange narrative, is that Holt didn’t drown that day—he was taken.nThe school, they say, became his final resting place in an unexpected way. Years after his disappearance, Waverley College’s iconic statue of the Virgin Mary was struck by lightning during a fierce storm. With funds stretched thin and an unwillingness to commission a replacement, the school turned to an unusual alternative. A mysterious, life-sized plaster cast of Harold Holt—somehow in their possession—was hoisted onto the school’s rooftop, taking the Virgin Mary's place.nNow, the statue of Holt stands atop Waverley College, its expression eerily solemn, its gaze fixed in the direction of Cheviot Beach—the very place from which he was supposedly taken all those years ago. Was this simply an odd coincidence, or was it a silent confession? Did the school’s leadership know more than they ever let on?nSome students claim that, on stormy nights, the statue seems almost alive, its eyes filled with a knowing sadness. Others insist they’ve heard whispers in the wind, as if Holt himself is still trying to tell his story. While most dismiss these tales as pure fiction, one undeniable truth remains: Waverley College, whether by coincidence or conspiracy, has ensured that Holt’s presence endures—not just in history, but high above Sydney, forever looking back at the beach where his fate was sealed.
I attended this school from 2002-2006. I ended up having to leave due to the sheer level of blatant bullying that this school condoned.nDuring my time at Waverley, I needed medical treatment requiring months off school. The school treated it as an annoyance to them, then never contacted me or my family once to check up on how I was doing. It was disgusting.nWhen I returned to the school after several months, I was bald from chemo and a teacher told me that my haircut was not appropriate. Ok mate, should I get a rug?nA friend of mine was accused of bullying when he in fact was the one who was bullied, and the year 7 master at the time intimidated him by saying his wife was a lawyer.nKerry Murray was a disgrace. He bullied, intimidated and berated the boys nonstop. The fact he was celebrated upon his retirement is just despicable.nThroughout the next two years, the bullying was on display big time and continued. It is a reprehensible institution and it should be closed.
Don't be fooled by its glamorous outer reputation. Average school. Average education. Great resources for a potential that hasn't been reached, especially in the academic sphere and the effective use of teaching resources. However the school has a good social aspect to it with friendly fellow students and is a good school to go to for sport related activities. There are also some interesting activities to take part during the 6 years of school.
my brother went here when i came here for his grad i couldn't stop crying the school was so beautiful i didn't want to leave i loved the food but the tofu ehh but it was so beautiful stop putting 1 star reviews and no they dont hurt or push in rugby or any other sport they actually be nice and have good sportsmanship and it was not the inside job of 9/11 and tyrone never came to this school and Osama Bin Laden didn't make this school christian brothers did and the canteen ladies a so nice
Absolutely can't fault this school. Any issue is addressed immediately. The school has taught my son skills and strategies to gain independence. Now in Y9 he's got a grand total of 2 friends and has identified his career path of being a doctor. Yes he is asiannPS I love the IT department as they make school fun for everyone
