Beautiful Place, Station under hill walls.nnWatsonia Train Station, located on the Hurstbridge Line, is one of the most peaceful and well-maintained suburban stations in Melbourne’s north. Set slightly below street level, the station has a unique quiet charm — a blend of greenery, suburban calm, and that familiar rhythm of Metro trains passing through.nnThe platforms are clean, well-lit, and clearly marked, with reliable digital displays and announcements. The station design feels simple yet functional, with accessible ramps and stairs connecting both sides. Even during peak hours, Watsonia never feels chaotic — the environment stays relaxed, reflecting the laid-back pace of the surrounding suburb.nnTrains here run frequently toward Flinders Street Station and Hurstbridge, making it a convenient stop for commuters, students, and locals alike. The nearby parking area is spacious, and the small shopping strip just outside the station adds convenience for morning coffee or a quick bite.nnI uploaded a few black & white photographs capturing the stillness of early morning trains and the contrast of light and structure — moments that show how even a suburban station can feel cinematic.nnWatsonia truly represents Melbourne’s quiet suburban side — clean, reliable, and timeless.nn#WatsoniaStation #MetroTrainsMelbourne #HurstbridgeLine #MelbourneSuburbs #TrainJourney #PublicTransportVictoria #ExploreMelbourne #BlackAndWhitePhotography #StationVibes #CommuterLife #MelbourneTravel #RailwayStories #CityToSuburb #TravelAustralia
Ramp provides decent access to the station, has some Myki machines and a waiting area. Services on this line are reasonably frequent.
Not a very visually appealing station, however it does its job well, has a customer service desk, toilets, many places to sit, is nearby the main shopping area and is very well accessible via a ramp.
Avoid if you can!nSince the main car park was closed for the Greensborough Highway widening project, you’ll need to factor in AT LEAST and additional 15-25 minutes to drive to the temporary car park and walk across the highway through the old now inaccessible main car park to the station ramps. The other side of the station the former library car park is even worse. It - and the other car parking on the RSL side of the station, is now a construction site and who knows how long it will be before it is usable again. The current pedestrian detours add an additional 5-15 minute walk to access the platform ramps from this side with minimal signage, uneven terrain and inadequate lighting.nDon’t waste your time if you have accessibility issues as there is no drop-off nearby or direct pedestrian access to the station now.nA total shambles and honestly, even if it is ever completed with the new Town Square format, the lack of parking will make this station obsolete.
It just works. There's nothing more to say than having ample shelter, seating, customer service and parking. There's also a narrow ramp that is also very steep making it inaccessible. It's also aesthetically unappealing with its location in the bottom of a ditch making views of anything interesting impossible. Overall, it's just another station that does what it does.
