Came to try the 3 course menu on a beautiful winter Saturday. Food was of high quality, refined, gastronomic style and very tasty. The chef included a couple of pleasant surprises which turned a 3 course menu into a 5 course meal. We had salmon, kangaroo, risotto, lamb, pork jowl and deserts. Oriental spices accompanied most of them. See photos for the dishes we had. Service was streamlined. Spacing between different courses felt just right, not too quick but not too slow either. The whole lunch took about 90 minutes from sit down until the cheque. Staff were friendly and helpful. Decor felt it could use a renovation and upgrade. Dress code rather relaxed. We saw people in shorts, jeans and t-shirt. Parking available at the Questacon car park.
There were three real standouts for me, the first was the welcome dish from the chef which was just an appetiser but the sauce was fantastic. The second was the pork entree which was very tasty and my favourite dish. Third was the custard tart with cinnamon which was also excellent. We had the three course set menu and that was enough for me. I had the steak for the main and that was good. Dietary restrictions: Lots of accommodation for coeliac/gluten free choices.
Exceptional, a two hat experience. Presentation was an exquisite appetiser to a taste sensation. Fish, meats, vegetables, superb sauces and deserts. Service was fantastic too and then we had a beautiful view on a prime Autumn day. Hard to top this. Highly recommended.
Canberra, Parkes Nice location by the lake. Been here previously when they serve edgy modern Aust. Had pork and salmon entree. Mains are lamb and gnocchi. Dessert of goat cheesecake and orange pudding. Maybe a better clarity in flavour might work wonders Have to say it was a nice sunset
Had the 5 course degustation. Really enjoyed the food, the lamb was my favorite. Had duck instead of chicken, and it was good. Shouldn't have eaten the bread roll as I couldn't finish the dessert. It was very rich. Had a nice window view but the ACT gov has building paraphernalia right outside. Service was lacking compared to other fine dining restaurants in Canberra. Waited for over a half hour to be served when I had already said on the form I was doing that degustation. Had to ask for another drink. Loses the star for service.
Thoroughly enjoyable, I'll be back. Enjoyed a 3 course lunch that left us waddling out the door sated. Staff friendly, attentive and intuitive service well done team. The chef able to cook a roo loin so that it was moist, tender and tasty. Never thought that I would compliment roo in that way! Quality of rest of dishes stunningly good as well.
The location of this restaurant is beautiful being that close to the lake, but it has a road going right directly in front of the lake. The interior of the building was very outdated with dirty curtains. The servers seemed very confused and didn’t remember the orders for our table. The food was very simple and quite overpriced for what you get. A good restaurant to try once.
We chose it for our PR grant family celebration dinner with our young children. We enjoyed the 5 and the 3 course menu. All the food was spectacular, perfectly cooked, the salt was right on the spot, and the staff was helpful and even went an extra mile for us. I struggled for the reservation, but they were still able to sit us. We loved it all the way. Dietary restrictions: They took our food allergies into account.
Lack of details and food was okay. I’ll explain. -Fine dining, 5 forks and 5 knifes but no table cloth? -Went for dinner at 7:30pm, so outside is dark and inside is bright light, the lights are so bad in this restaurant. There is no atmosphere or different mood lights that create a comfortable cozy place. -Got the menu, looks good food and we opted for the wine pairing. -Saw on the menu Salmon, Chicken, Kangaroo and Lamb, perfect! I inform the waiter that I am pescatarian so I can only eat the first course Salmon. I’ve asked for what food will the meat be substitute for… no answer. Normally in other restaurants the waiter will go and ask the chef and come back with options to check that I would be okay with the options. -Wine pairing… what a disaster.. on every dish that arrived the waiter bring 2 glass with the wine already pour into the glasses, saying this is the XXX wine name. Wine was not pour from a bottle, no explanation in the wine that we were drinking and why this was a good option to accompany the dish… have you ever been to a wine pairing where they say this is a Chardonnay. Or this is a Shiraz, no further explanation. I can read myself on the menu that this a Shiraz, the waiter should be knowledgeable to explain the wine. This is what Wine Pairing in a Fine dining should be. -Food was okay, first dish salmon was okay, second dish as pescatarian I got a burrata with rocket although I told them I am allergic to rocket, third dish I got a mushroom risotto and that was very good, and last dish I got a fish which was not good at all. Had a bite and left it there. For my partner food the menu food, Chicken was good, Kangaroo was too hard, Lamb was good. -I have to say the portions of each food are really big and you won’t go hungry. Overall there fine dining experience was completely missed for me. Staff should be trained to a fine dining, there are a lot of other restaurants in Canberra where for the same price dinner+wine pairing the overall experience is at another level.
We had the $77 3 course lunch. Food is pretty food, worth the price. We did not get to sit near the window to see rh6e water.Food: 4/5
