I recently dined at Water Street Kitchen, and I must say, the atmosphere was lovely and a good combination of casual and sophisticated, with a prettiness that’s something special for Bundy. The setting created a lovely backdrop for our evening out, and the service was very good; the staff were attentive and friendly, enhancing our overall experience.nnAs for the food, it was mostly ok. Their intentions are clear and the effort is evident but I was perhaps a bit let down with flavour and nothing really stood out. I started with the focaccia, which unfortunately tasted as if it had been warmed up from frozen. It was slightly cold inside and would have benefited from balsamic and olive oil for dipping, or even some butter on the side.nnFor the main course, I had a steak, and my partner also opted for the same. Both steaks were cooked well but I found mine a bit dry and his was sinewy. I also tried the tomato and goat cheese starter, but it felt a bit lacking in something and was quite rich, with too much cheese and tomato - it didn’t really provide a wow factor .nnOn a positive note, the drinks were good, and the quality of wine was excellent. Overall, I would definitely recommend it and would return in the future. With a few tweaks to the food, this place could easily elevate the dining experience to something that really stands out!
What a find!! Beautiful quaint cottage with lovely outdoor dining area! Faultless meal and service! I couldn’t rate this restaurant more highly! Thank you for a great dining experience guys.
What a great find in rural Bundaberg. A quaint, dainty little corner store tuned into a quaint, dainty little corner restaurant.nRelatives 3 chef brothers had attended previously and raved about it and I dislike intensely them having one over me so I did a solo lunch here after the staff kindly accepted a very late booking which I very much appreciated.nBeautifully appointed interior with wood, brass, mirrors, soft subtle paintings and flowers abound with a lovely little outdoor area for relaxed sunny dining. Not a large restaurant but three sections with plenty of dining space.nIt was not crowded when I arrived on a Friday at 1pm but, I would imagine, that nights and weekends have a much higher turnover.nThe food is spectacular, well plated fresh and beautifully prepared by a kitchen crew that obviously take pride in their end result.nFront of house staff are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and obviously happy to be working in such a stylish environment.nA broad lunch menu with a combination of flavours that are precise and well thought out.nI don’t usually eat a large lunch but, for your sake dear readers, I went “the whole hog”.nHaving heard those relative’s reviews, I already had a good idea of what I would order.nI started with 3 fresh Coffin Bay oysters. Obs fresh and icy cold, served simply on a bed of rock salt with a granita topping they gave me a memory taste of the salty ocean at Eyre Peninsula where I have swum many times. My only request here would be to add a wedge of lemon to the dish. I always like to “tang” my live oysters.nMain meal was the pork belly with maple glazed cabbage, pickled apple slaw, palm caramel and walnuts. What a delicious combination of flavours. Wonderful, thick and crispy crackling with delightfully “fall off the bone” meat and a light crispy salad which complimented the pork perfectly. I’m not too sure what some of these other reviewers are on about in saying they have small sized dishes. They obviously didn’t order the pork. This is a big chunk o’ pig my friends!nContinuing on [on your behalf] I finished up with a delightful Mille-Feuille with fresh raspberries, curd and a dribble of crème anglaise. Again, a perfectly prepared dish with a combination of sweetness and berry tartness with a light creaminess.nA strong and tasty flat white to finish topped off a perfect lunch which included a glass of SA Sauvignon Blanc and a James Squire beer from the broad drinks list.nI think this is possibly the “crispiest” lunch I’ve ever had. Granita on the oysters, volcanically crispy crackling on the pork and light as air pastry on the mille-feuille made for a delightful experience in an establishment that is well worth the visit anytime you are in the Wide Bay.nIt ain’t cheap but it’s worth every cent for something a little bit special. This is a place to be with someone you really care about on a special occasion, make a memory.
Regular diner here and I absolutely love the food, service and cocktails. The menu changes often, and I love the way it’s structured. In the most recent menu, I ordered a fish with a bug cream sauce. OMG!! I have to say it was one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. I’ll certainly have the same dish when I go back. The sauce was so good that they gave me a spoon so I could drink it. Can’t say enough about the staff they are professional, warm and genuine. This is the best restaurant in Bundaberg!!
We went there for my birthday dinner with my partner, and ordered the 3 course menu.nnThe dishes we chose included lamb backstrap, pork belly, broccoli mixed with toasted almonds, squid ink truffle salami, crab and coconut with nahm Jim, chocolate terrine and sticky date pudding.nnAll the food was amazing, it's the best we've had in town so far.
