Visited Watan Afghan and overall had a really good experience. The portions were generous and the flavours were spot on especially the rice and the kebabs. The food feels homely and comforting, exactly what you expect from Afghan cuisine. Service was friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly.nGreat spot for a hearty meal and good value. Would definitely come back.
I was really looking forward to trying Watan Afghan Cuisine, especially since we share a close culture and I expected a warm, friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The staff were not friendly with me at all, and I didn’t feel comfortable during my visit — though they were friendly with my Afghan friend, which made the situation feel awkward. The food was also less than expected.nOn top of that, it felt quite expensive for the level of service and overall experience. I truly hoped for a more welcoming and authentic visit, but it was disappointing.
We ordered the mixed plate. I thought it would be an average size. It was HUGE! I packed a takeaway box and there were still leftovers to pack but I just gave up lol.nnThe food was deliciousnMeat was nice and softnThe bread was so fluffy and beautiful. I enjoyed dipping in the yoghurt nnThe atmosphere was very quiet and it was clean.nI managed to find parking next to the restaurant.nnWill definitely be back
The food was between good and ok but kinda cold. I was served lamb cutlets as Chopan Kebab which is generally different parts of lamb shoulder, which I didn't mind as they were very flavorful, juicy and tender. The Palaw and Mantu, were forgetful though.nThe seating arrangement was not the best either, the door was constantly open and made the place pretty cold. It wasn't very helpful having a baby with us.nThe wait staff wasn't rude and perhaps nice, but kinda in a rush and slightly unprofessional. They were having a private party in the back maybe that's why. But that shouldn't equate to neglect towards other customers.nOverall not a bad experience, just some FYI points above hoping they can pay heed.
