I have to agree with most people. Warren 37th District is a money grab court. They charged you fees to use credit card payments and the ATMs in both building are not working. After you pay your tickets online you will get court fees even if you weren't aware of the original court date. They have no amenity programs although other counties do. The Mayor taking from his residence to push his agenda. You should not be paying court costs from a 2017 case especially if you weren't made of the original court date. We need new officials that are for the people and not taking from the people. Hopefully, they all enjoy their increase in salary from taking from those that are less fortunate.
This 5 stars is strictly for judge Sophiea. He is the sweetest lil man ever. He deserves all the green lights and I hope he only ever has to use touchless/ hands free automatic flushing toilets everywhere he goes. I hope he only gets the best fruit when he does curbside groceries pickup. If it wasn’t for him I’d definitely give the 37th district court zero stars cuz all courts suck.
The Small claims dept needs more customer service training, the one young lady was super nice and helpful but whomever is training her needs an attitude adjustment, hopefully it was a random bad day!
UPDATE: $11.25 fee charged if someone sends you to pay over the phone for a ticket. It is a HASSLE no charge doing it online. Not sure why officer Laban/Darrin is in the police force. To serve and protect? He is in the WRONG career. No bedside manner and talks down to youboth at court and in front of your children. When you go to informal hearing not only does he dismiss what you have to say about the ticket but than makes it sound like he did a favor by writing it off as impeading. I can't afford the ticket he gave me and I still feel he is 1000% wrong for writing it up. He states I have an excellent driving record before telling me my ticket price. Money hungry officer making his quota. I am so glad police are properly trained where i live.
They is a joke. I recently received two tickets which one of them would get my license suspended so I was trying to pay off the ticket that will get my license suspended and even went over there website to pay it I typed in the ticket number of the ticket that I wanted to pay but somehow they system split my payments up between two tickets so now my license is suspended I can't work and for some reason every time I call up there don't nobody know what to do.
The court failed to serve papers on my squatting tenant. I had contacted the court officer several times to notify him that I knew what times the tenant would be at my house and that if the office showed up randomly, he wouldn’t be able to serve the tenant the papers as the tenant was merely pretending to live at my place at that point as was only home at certain times. But he disregarded my calls and voicemails, and never even tried to get back to me. The last time the court officer randomly showed up, he knocked on my door and I told him the tenant moved out and he said, “oh he moved out?” and just walked away without giving me a chance to ask any questions or say anything else. I had the impression he may have been mentally handicapped. If that’s not the case, he definitely was at the very least an odd character. Very unsatisfied overall with my experience using the Warren court for a small claims case.
This courtroom building is a disgrace. It's over 60 years old. Cramped, uncomfortable courtrooms. The city of Warren has been collecting thousands of dollars for a "court-building fund." For years. When does the city plan on building a new 37th district court-building? Hopefully this century.
I haven't been to many courts, this one is not awful but could be better.
Had court for a ticket mind it took from July to now Feb. To get my court date seems a bit delayed and not a right to a speedy court date. But what struck me odd is when i asked for a break on a ticket i received and the judge or magistrate not sure because i could only hear the cop ask him laughed and laughed and said what she doesn't have 60 to pay? I thought how unprofessional and cruel to laugh at someone during these had times he doesn't know if my job was affected my covid and this last 60$ was going towards food. He just laughs smh more professional
I had to come here to get copies of records for a court case. The woman downstairs at the window was very helpful and polite. However, this place is a dump. They don’t even have an online platform to view docket entries. They accept credit and debit cards. But you babe to go upstairs, wait in another line and at that window. Then you have to take your receipt from upstairs back downstairs, wait in that line again and show your receipt. Plus, there is a fee if you want to pay with a card. And if you decide to use the ATM to get cash, since their CC processing network doesn’t seem to work well. Than that is an astronomical fee. I’ve been in numerous courts across the state, and in federal courts in this state. This court by far is the most inept, dirty kangaroo court that I have ever seen.
