A very steep walk/ rock climb ! You need a reasonable amount of fitness to finish this. I recommend starting early - it took about 4hours for me, from 7am to 11am. I carried 2 litres of water with me and that was fine. I would recommend bringing a snack to keep you going - it's a tough one. Do not attempt this is summer because there is not much shade. After the rain do not attempt because a lot of the walking/ climbing is over rocks that get really slippery after rain. It gets really warm so bring a hat! I've seen kids do it but you definitely wanna make sure you're bringing fit kids up.
We decided to do a difficult hike as it had been a while since our last one so we challenged ourselves to Walshs Pyramid in Cairns This is a challenging climb that start on a decent slop and gets steeper as you go , just over 6km return and allow approx 5-6hrs total. But despite the challenge this was worth the view! “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.
More of a fitness challenge than a scenic walk, as it requires constant concentration. A technically difficult track, especially coming back down. The effort is rewarded with amazing 360 degree views from the top. Depending on your fitness, up and back will take 2-7 hours and you'll need 2-4 litres of water. Recommend starting at dawn as you'll get baked climbing this during the heat of the day. I wouldn't climb this in summer.
Been wanting to do this climb for years after growing up nearby. Very tough and technical track, like it's been said. Very steep with little rest spots, take plenty of water 3 litres per person is a good start start as early as possible to get the cooler weather on the ascent. Good challenge and leaves a great sense of achievement after completing
Difficult walk as most of the track is rocky and is at a constant incline. Good fitness is recommended. If you are new to bushwalking, allow for an entire day 7 hours to do this. People who can do grade 5 tracks can do this in around 4.5 hours. Views are amazing and worth the effort. Highly recommended.
A great walk with fantastic views from the top just be aware of wind out the end Some slippery sections with lose rocks definatley wouldn't try in the wet. Might only be 3km each way but 900m elevation change makes for some steeper sections. Take plenty of water and sun protection. Far better marked than last time I did it 8 years ago. Oh and don't expect an ice cream or cold beer at the top!
I reckoned that the discomfort and risk was not worth it. coming down was very risky. One slip on the very rough track could have ended very badly, and we lost the track on the way down. I will never walk on such a track again.
Great trail although constantly steep and views, the peak was in the clouds when we hiked it which was pretty cool
Make sure that you get there by going to Moss Road and then follow the parking signs. The track entrance is immediately opposite where you start from the carpark. Look out for the white arrow. It was really challenging and gets the heart rate up there. Plan for the day and take more water than you think you need.
Was harder than we imagined but it was highly worth it! Minimum 4 hours needed in my opinion
