I was a student at Sydney Uni from 1980-1983.nnI remember Pure Maths and Computer Science lectures here. Quite a hike over from Madsen or Carslaw where most other classes were held. I think the furthest I had to go was from PNR to Wallace one termnnI remember it being so cold in the winter morning classes that you could see your exhaled breath. The lower seats were the coldest. Woollen scarfs were common to see.nnI remember a grouchy Pure Maths prof but not his name that would sometimes throw students out if they didn't move along so that no empty seat was left towards the centre. There were so many students and he didn't want people blocking the aisles or sitting on the steps.nnI remember the big blackboards, three wide, that could be rolled up and down. Pure Maths could fill up a lot of space in a short time.nnOverall I give Wallace a 4 out of 5 for what I remember of it, but I suppose a lot could have changed in 35 years
Holding mathematics lectures at 8am in this godforsaken outpost really is cruel. It may be 17 years on, but the memory of attempting the trek over from Redfern station twice a week is still etched into my mind. Hopefully the faculty has finally come to their senses and moved all mathematics lectures over to the PNR building where they belong. I mean, what are people on the sandstone side of the campus going to do with their newfound knowledge anyway? Maccas is mainly self serve these days...
Good place for giving presentations and seminars.
Recently attended a conference at the Wallace, place was big enough to accommodate all of us at the conference, the WiFi worked pretty well despite the numbers
Great lecture theatre, air conditioned and large enough for most courses.
