The Wellington train service is an absolute joke which is beyond fixing at this point, but a lot of your staff at ticket offices tend to be nice enough people, and Juanita at Waikanae station is no exception. Always polite, always friendly.

Lovely wee station kept neat and tidy, though it is a shame the ticket office is only open weekday mornings and most of the seats for waiting somewhere under cover from weather are inside the ticket office. These Metlink stations should have more seating in general I reckon.

They really need a place out of the way from wind and rain for people to take cover. The ticket office should also have longer opening hours. Though a good quick train to Wellington is running every twenty minutes, so that's good.

The train from Wellington to Waikanae is a trip for tourists on a sunny day..the train runs right along the coast line and on a fine day its beautiful train ride along the shorelinen.also on the return trip coming out of the tunnel to Wellington you get an amazing view of the Wellington Harbor..nThe trip takes exactly an hour each way and enjoy a meal at one of the local restaurants before your return trip to Wellington..l have lived in Upper Hutt for three years and since the train fare reductions the car parks at Trentham and Wallaceville used to be empty but now they are full..on the limited stop train trips from Wellington to Upper Hutt it takes only 39 minutes..all stops it takes 45mins from Wellington to Upper Hutt...

Nice trains to see, special when you are driving on the HWY 1
