17 months ago we visited Waiheke Island and were appalled at the overcrowding on the buses and the rudeness of drivers and wrote to you on our return pointing out the dangers of having 17 - 18 people standing in the aisle on each trip we used the buses etc. We have been in Waiheke again over the last week, used the buses every day and were very happy about the 'improved service'. The buses were on time every time and the drivers courteous and happy to help with info and the buses weren't in any way overloaded. We note there is a double decker service for people wanting to go to the various wineries etc which has obviously taken the overflow of visitors but we can only say we were delighted with the service we received. Thanks for making our stay such a pleasure.

Hi i really dont want to complain but it hasnt been the first time i had problems with one of your bus drivers, it seems to me that they just dont like foreigners. Anyway, my bus driver today from ostend to matiatia via palm beach( at 2:16 pm) was unbelievable rude again, raising his voice if i ask a normal question, he basicly been treding me like a idiot. I dont know about how the busses work here thats why i ask and as a customer i expect a friendly and nice answer and mostly respectfull answer from your employes. I have never been disrespectfull to any of the bus drivers but his behavior today was unexeptable for me and this is the reason why i write this now. I want you to know that i will make your response and also this letter puplic either way because i think people should know about that so they can find a better way to get arround waiheke by car sharing or what ever. Today i went from onetangi do little oneroa so i asked my busdriver from onetangi to get me a ticket to little oneroa wich he did, he was really nice and kind even with a full bus of tourist.he was professional. So he told me its 3 dollars wich i knew already cause i take that bus daylie to work and back. Stoping at the old countdown to change the bus and the i got told i have to pay another 3 dollars to get there just because i changed bus. Iasked why and he sayed “its another 3 dollars mate“. First of all im not his mate, i dont know this person personally so i would never call him mate or anything like that. And as a cusomor i expect to be spoken to with some manners he obviusly didnt had. He also never gave me a second ticked he just charged me aonther 3 dollars. So im not sure if he was right to charge me aonther 3 dollars (i never had to pay 6 dollars to get home from work) but even if t was his behavior was unexeptable for me and from know on i will put all my effort in it to avoid using any of your puplic transports. I also will tell my friends and family about this unexeptable bahvor of your employes and. I hope i will get a response of you and if you care about your customers you will try to get me happy using your company again. I dont expect anything from you so i let you know again that i will make this letter and anykind of response puplic. Kind regards Michael

NO ACCESSIBLE WAIHEKE ISLAND BUSES I saw on the AT (Auckland Transport) website that …....”to confirm wheelchair access for a specific trip”..... to …..”ring Waiheke Island Buses on 09 372 8823”... So, I rang this number and spoke to a woman who very pleasantly asked me if I could.....”walk up the steps (???) and fold my wheelchair”...., to which I told her I was in a wheelchair???, an electric wheelchair. I was then told they had no accessible buses for wheelchair users. I was certainly angry at this injustice. NZ is a long way off of providing equal access to transport. I have had property on Waiheke since 1994 and I know they have a disproportionate number of elderly and disabled people to the general Auckland population. I asked the woman if Waiheke Island Buses bought their own buses or if they got all their buses from Auckland Transport. The reply was Auckland Transport supply all their buses. I have heard many Waiheke islanders suggest that Auckland Transport offload all their old buses onto Waiheke Island but it is the first time I have tried to catch the bus on Waiheke, so first experience at having to think about that issue myself. I often catch buses to many different parts of Auckland and can always go to a bus stop and have an accessible bus pull up. No accessible buses on Waiheke Island would suggest why, that new buses into Auckland go into bus companies fleet and Waiheke Island buses get the old ones, all the inaccessible ones. This is not right; it is not equal access and certainly excludes wheelchair users being able to use public transport on Waiheke Island.
