Had an absolutely delightful meal here. As locals to Nelson this was our first visit but definitely not our last! Lucky enough to sit at the bar to see the chef at work, always the best place. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious. We had calamari, vegetable tempura, mixed sashimi, tuna sashimi and sushi. We just couldn’t stop ordering! Great service and very reasonable pricing. Thank you for a lovely meal.
Yuki is great fun, and his food is amazing, I recommend sitting at the bar, so you can watch him work. His Sashimi and Nigiri are sensational.Food: 5/5
We had a great evening enjoying the Pohutukawa platter & some of the Tempura - loved being able to watch everything being freshly made! We've recently been to Japan and can confirm it's on par if not better than the fresh sushimi and nigiri we had there! Oishii desu!

Firstly! Thank You to Wafu for the perfect birthday dinner for two. We enjoyed the delicious, warming Miso Soup, followed by the Sashimi and Sushi platter for two ... ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!! Beautifully presented in a warm and cosy environment. Service was excellent. Non-intrusive yet attentive. The restaurant itself is exceptionally clean and tidy, inspiring confidence in where your dinner is coming from. You are able to observe as the Chef prepares three Sashimi and Sushi, creating an interactive experience that is still so subtle and not overly "showy". Highly recommend Wafu Bistro for a relaxing, satiating evening of Japanese dining. We also had a bottle of bubbles which is why the price per person is a little "up there".
Was visiting Nelson and dining solo, so sat at the only spot left - at the sushi bar. It was mesmerizing watching the obviously very skilled chef making nigiri and sashimi right in front of me! The service was fantastic and friendly, the food was great and overall vibe really nice. It's a cool room, and a very pleasant dining experience. Highly recommend.
