I had unexpected visitors, so I walked to this store to buy a couple of bottles of wine. I arrived at the shop at 5.30pm. It was closed, despite having a placard out the front saying they were open, and despite the signage at the door saying that they were open until 8pm. This is not good enough.
Was refused service because I didn't have ID on me. I get it if someone genuinely looks under 25, but perhaps they could be a bit more discerning. I was born in the mid eighties. I'm old enough to have a child who is legal drinking age. I'm all for a compliment, but even squinting in the dark I don't look under 25. I wanted to get some gin after my gym session but now I've been forced into a healthier lifestyle.
Great location. Friendly staff. Good selection. Respectful word of warning however, to avoid corked wine older than 15 years from here. Storage or shipping an issue. Have had several bottles - varied vintages and producers - troubled by dry degraded corks.
Cluttered entrance making selection of anything near there very difficult and the aisles are a bit narrow, however it is a very well stocked shop and everything is relatively easy to find, the staff are polite and helpful. Cant ask for much more. Recommend
A beautifully displayed, well stocked wine store. The staff here are also very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend this store to others.
Spent 15 minutes finding suitable wines and I was the only person in shop at 6pm. 3 staff behind counter no one offered service yet I was spending $250. Then they diddled me on my change. I have had good experiences there in the past but clearly the staff on tonight aren't worth their salt and have just lost a regular customer
I picked up glasses for a function I had last week. When they were returned it was pointed out that the box was a bit old and unstable, this was done so they could be careful not to break any. For my trouble I was charged a $4 fee per boxes even though they had been in that condition when picked up. I thought that was disgraceful and so will no longer be shopping at Vintage Cellars.
Had a massive make over and looks superior. A great selection of wines and spirits. Staff very knowledgeable in all the products
Absolutely horrible experience, went with my partner to buy a bottle of our favourite wine only to be asked if my partner had ID, she is 26 and had left her licence at home, the store manager refused to sell us the wine, unless I could bring her drivers licence, fair enough. I went home got her licence, my partner stayed at home and I went to retrieve the wine, only to be told that her valid UK drivers licence was not a acceptable form of ID and that the only way I could buy the wine was if I brought her passport. So I went back home and got her passport and returned to the store. I showed the manager the passport only to be told that my partner who was not puschasing the wine and was only accompaning me during the purchase must be present to confirm the ID...!!!! Absolutely ridiculous! Eventually the manager realised how ridiculous the situation was and allowed me to buy the wine. I will not be buying anything from Vintage Cellars again.
Great range of local and imported wine and beer. Staff have EXCELLENT product knowledge.
