If you are looking for a place with a good ambience and great decor, this isn't the place for you. What they do have to offer is simple, hearty amazing food. The food is extremely reasonable given the current rise in prices we see everywhere else. We ordered a Banglore masala Dosa which did not disappoint, it was accompanied with a refreshing coconut chutney, the most simple yet flavorful sambar and a flavor bomb of a pickle too. The venky's non veg meal was the most bang for buck. Chicken curry, palak dal, rassam, curd, a chapati, papas, rice pickle and to top it all off a gulab jamun. We also ordered a chicken fry which had just the right amount of spice and was super masaledar.
I've been there a couple of times. Food is awesome, you will really get a homemade taste on every dish. I loved their special chicken pulav and chicken fry...Food: 5/5
A go to place if you want to have a great South Indian meal at an affordable price. I wish there was a system to add a negative review for my absolute disgusting experience I had today. We ordered a masala dosa, chicken dosa and a menu wada dish. I had to remind the man at the counter to bring this order as it came after more than 30 minutes after the other two dishes and he was delivering other tables orders during this time for customers arriving after us. It was clearly apparent that the man had forgotten about the chicken dosa order. When we had gotten up to leave, the man insisted us on paying extra for the chicken dosa which which paid for at the beginning. He didn’t even bother to check the paper order and it was only after another customer spoke up and told the owner that he had delivered my chicken dosa to their table that he allowed us to leave. Worse still, the man didn’t not even apologise for his mistake. Even if you are looking for a cheap eat, you are better to take your business elsewhere as for a few dollars more, you get better quality food and more importantly, treated with respect. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Very weird experience here. Nice food but extremely bizarre service, have been here a few times before and enjoyed it but this time was extremely frustrating. Waiter/server was dismissive when we asked to order, often walking in and out of the kitchen when we tried to order. Other customers dealt with the same frustration, two seperate parties had arguments with the man due to long wait times and his inattentiveness. Food took maybe 45-1 hour to come out. Also found two hunks of plastic in my food while biting into it. Kitchen staff and waiter addressed this by giving me a small bowl of potatoes and acted like it was fine. I get somethings happen sometimes with maybe a hair or plastic ending up in the food but the whole experience topped with this was quite a disaster really. I spoke to the kitchen and wait staff on the issues but they didn’t seem to take it onboard, blaming the plastic on the brand of lentils they have and had no comments about the strange service. When you ask a group of people about Venkys you will get mixed results. Very High risk type of place but when it’s good its very good . Also easy on the wallet. Be prepared to roll the dice if you choose Venkys.
A small south Indian restaurant with nice food. We reached there 10 min before their closing time. So snacks was almost finished. But main dishes was served. Price was reasonable
Very highly recommended *****. All you need to do is, please tell them how your dish want to be cooked!!, and you will see the amazing taste especially the non-veg dish !!. Great team and greatly customer focused. Many thanks " Venky's "
The combo is the real deal, love the roti and sweet pickle and yogurt. Also, bangalore masala dosa and the rice chicken pulav. They're great in medium spicy kick, or can ask for mild. Good portion and awesomely cheap. One of the Best south indian feast in Auckland!
The worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant!? For sure. Even the food is not great. The waiter makes assumptions about what I want and does not even let me finish a sentence. Definitely would not recommend anyone to go there.
