More of bush trail walk to see the valley lake… very nice walk uphill to see the lake. Even caught someone waterskiing…. Some parts of the trail might be not for faint hearted and wear shoes with good grip. Still worth the walk to see it especially when the weather is blue skies and nice breeze
Walked further around at the boat ramp, people were skiing in the lake at the time, my dog and daughter and husband enjoyed getting their feet wet
A cool picnic spot to spend time with your family and friends - very close to Blue lake. We visited in June long weekend Queen's birthday and it was just us - I guess it would be more crowded during the warmer months. There's plenty of car parking - this does sit within a gated facility and gates close at 6 PM. No fee to enter though.
Absolutely gorgeous, when I had a good view of the lake I was so amazed and couldn’t look away Unfortunately it wasn’t open when I visited but definitely want to go back some day.
My favourite spot in Mount Gambier. Beautiful scenery and lovely feel about 5 minutes drive from the town centre yet it feels a world away. There's nothing better on a fine day than to pile the dogs into the car and take them down to Valley Lake. They love exploring the grounds, saying hello to the cute ducks and having lots of sniffs. Can easily spend an hour roaming around without realising how much time has passed. The dogs have to be on leash at all times but that is totally understandable and they still have a tonne of fun. Always find the recreation area to be well kept, clean and tidy with good facilities lots of bins, good toilets, barbecues etc. and the playground area is very large and would be great fun for the kids. Overall a top spot to be especially on a weekday morning when there's scarcely anyone around and you can really enjoy nature at its finest :
Pretty lake in Mt Gambier. We went to the Blue Lake first so this one didn’t compare however it had a completely different vibe. Beautiful green surroundings too. Plenty of spots to park. Looks lovely from high above as you drive down to the lake.
Very interesting place. We had a very good time there. The lake looks green in color and gorgeous. Strongly recommand visiting this lake
My favourite activity in Mt Gambier is to hike the 12-15 km loop from town anticlockwise around Valley Lake , up Centenary Tower if the flag is up to show it’s open, they around the Mutton Lake with lovely trees, and then the 3.4km around the Blue Lake. Just so fulfilling!
Great spot to visit with the family. Highly recommend
Valley Lake is located in Mount Gambier, South Australia. Mount Gambier is roughly 5.5 hours drive away from Melbourne CBD city centre. The lake is a good place for picnic with family and friends. There is a conservation area wildlife park located near Valley Lake roughly 1-2 min walk. Do check out the conservation area for wild kangaroos, wallaby and koala bears. Other destinations places of interest in Mount Gambier includes Blue Lake and Umpherston Sinkhole.
