Very average station, has toilets, customer service, shelter and everything. However it could do with some upgrades, and a level crossing removal, because it causes way too much traffic. The precinct also needs a bit of renovation. Station is also very peaceful, and trains are getting more frequent despite unaffordability for a track duplication.
Trains run at a low frequency - only every 20 mins. The worst ever train line in Victoria. The state does nothing for the public travelling on this line. We have canvassed for years and years and we are totally ignored. All it needs is an additional track from Gowrie to upfield to add an extra train, as currently there is only one track from Gowrie to upfield - just a couple of kilometres and they cannot afford it. They also often terminate at Batman and cancel the service leaving travellers stranded between batman and upfield. This means a further 40 minute wait for the next train or over an hour if the next train is cancelled or terminated from Batman. So disgusted and fed up. Their apologies are a joke as it happens almost daily - do their care for the loss of income? Embarrassment of getting in late, the awkwardness, the explanations, time lost? No! Why would they care? They run the train from Batman and achieve their stats of 99% punctuality!! What a joke! They think people are idiots?
This station is okay.nnIt is a very typical 1960s station.nnThe shelter, seating and entrances are mainly concentrated towards the Barry Rd. side of the station so that is why most people get on at the front at the train here.nnThe carparking is slightly inadequate, it gets busy during weekdays.nnThe transport connections here consists of just buses:n531 - North Coburg via Somerset Estate Campbellfieldn532 - Broadmeadows/Craigieburnn540 - BroadmeadowsnnOverall, it is a very average station and probably could do with some improvements.
Trains run at a low frequency. They also often stop at Batman and don't go further. This happened to me both when I headed to work and came back from work today. Be prepared for long delays if you use this station.
Whoever drives the 5.40pm upfield train from southern cross station, stop blowing the horn every 2 seconds it getting really freaking annoying and everyone on the train is complaining. Theres seriously no need for it.
