I would recommend any other accommodation possible for several reasons; the apartment was dirty when I first arrived, there was a cockroach infestation that took months for them to finally address, the fridge broke twice, the village events were lackluster, laundry facilities broke several times, and the apartment was constantly dusty. The only saving grace were the receptionists, who were actually really nice and tried to help as best they could, and the view, which was really pretty at sunset. Apart from those though, I absolutely cannot recommend AGAINST village enough.
DO NOT COME TO THIS ACCOMMODATION. The management’s conduct toward students is unacceptable and unemphatic.[PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND READ THE FULL REVIEW]nnOn 21 August 2025, management SHUT OFF WATER ACROSS ALL TOWERS in the village at around 10 PM due to a major leak. Their “solution” was to direct residents to shower at a nearby gym, which operates only from 6 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and 7 AM to 7 PM on weekends. For toilets, students were instructed to use NEARBY PUBLIC RESTROOMS—an utterly inadequate alternative. Compounding this, the lifts in ONE BUILDING WERE NOT WORKING, rendering it nearly inaccessible, especially for residents with mobility concerns.nnWhile water service was restored for most of the towers the next day, as of 23 August 2025, certain towers REMAIN WITHOUT WATER, and the aforementioned lift is still inoperable. Only now have they placed portable showers and toilets on-site. WHY WAS THIS NOT ARRANGED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE WATER RESTRICTION? The delay is indefensible.nnAdding insult to injury, management claims that both the lift technicians and plumbers are ON STRIKE. I have personally witnessed that NO WORK HAS TAKEN PLACE TODAY 23 August—remarkably convenient, as this allows them to avoid paying Sunday rates, with all work apparently postponed to the next business day 25 August to reduce labor costs.nnNo email inquiries are being answered. This total communications blackout is unacceptable. I am posting this review as there are no other avenues to voice my concerns or obtain actual updates.nnWorst of all, this entire ordeal is unfolding DURING EXAM PERIOD, SEVERELY DISRUPTING STUDENTS’ PREPARATIONS AND WELL-BEING. While the leak may have been beyond management’s immediate control, their response has been anything but compassionate or efficient. We are being left in the dark, without even the courtesy of regular updates.nnThis experience has exposed the true character of the management—unresponsive, lacking empathy, and fundamentally failing at their duty of care. RECOMMEND LOOKING FOR ANY OTHER ON-CAMPUS OPTION WHERE AT LEAST BASIC HUMAN DECENCY IS RESPECTED.nnUPDATE:nThe management has once again shown their true colors, confirming their dismissive approach toward students at the Village. On Friday, 19th September, the lift in one of the towers was SHUT DOWN and, fixed late as of THURSDAY 25th September. IT remained NON-OPERATIONAL for SIX WHOLE DAYS.nnManagement continues to offer the same VAGUE EXCUSE of “lift company issues” without any specifics, timeline, or accountability. This strongly suggests they are simply avoiding WEEKEND PENALTY RATES to cut costs, at the expense of residents who are being treated unfairly. For context, these towers reach 7 FLOORS, making the disruption really significant.nnNo compensation was provided for the last fiasco, and once again we face POOR GOVERNANCE, EVASIVE RESPONSES, and total disregard for resident wellbeing.nnNO AKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE SITUATION and NO APOLOGIES HAVE BEEN CONVEYEDD TO THE RESIDENTS, and I hope they face legal consequences for there unhuman and unfair treatment of the residents of the villageALTHOUGH THEY WONT, AS THEY ARE WELL VERSED WITH THEIR LEGAL OBLIGATIONS AND SIMPLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT EACH AND EVERY RESIDENTnnUPDATE NO.2:nToday is 13 October 2025, and the management has advised that the lift in one of the towers is at the end of its life and will be unusable from time to time. However, this is an attempt to ONCE AGAIN SAVE EECTRICITY COST as they have not made it functional since 12 October 2025. FIRST THEY TALK ABOUT SHINDLER BEING ON STRIKE and now the LIFT BEING TOO OLD, this is absolutely disappointing.
Been living here for a week so far so good the staff are great and the student helper RA team are excellent. However im lucky to hv neat and friendly roomate which make things easier. The village team arrange frequent events for students to participate or just foodies to grab on. Ps they give out goodie bags upon the check-in date too 5/5 XD
UNSW Village is definitely the best place to live on the campus, combined with competitively lower rent and a great living environment. Various apartment types include premium studio to eight-bedroom apartments. I lived there for two years. However, it will be great if the Village can lower the cost of laundry.
Absolute sorry excuse of an accomodation. In any other country they would be under investigation for poor quality control and disregard for complaints. They ignore emails complaining about broken items, and now the entirety of this accomodation shut all water supply down and told residents to use the gym showers and bathroom.
