I had a very positive experience today at Geelong University Hospital Barwon Health Emergency Department. From triage to administration, the process was seamless. Nurse Practitioner Tara M was outstanding. Dressed in bright tropical scrubs, she automatically brought a smile to my face, she was so warm, reassuring, extremely thorough, and explained everything clearly along the way. Her approach would put any patient especially children at ease. Jared who conducted my X-ray was equally professional, gentle, and impressively thorough. Despite the busy waiting rooms, I was in and out in under two hours. Given current pressures and cutbacks on hospitals, it was refreshing to encounter such genuinely delightful staff. The professionalism of the process and staff, made the experience far less daunting than expected.
I came to the ER with a dislocated shoulder last week. All of the staff in particular Melissa reception were very friendly and kind, making me feel a bit more comfortable. The whole process was very straightforward and they barely made me wait which I greatly appreciate. I am always thoroughly impressed with this ER, every time I have been it is always handled very professionally and as quickly as possible in regards to your circumstances. Thank you so much.
Was referred by my GP to attend Geelong University Hospital for HHS.nArrived, the line up was long but I waited. Was seen too rather quickly after completing triage and administration.nAssessment was thorough by Doctor Ella.nVery professional throughout.nI saw a myriad of doctors and nurses during my time who were excellent.nBut I’d like to thank PSAs Justin and Chris who went above and beyond. Even Maddy from BMI was very impressive.,nAll told I was in the dept for 14 hours.nAnd again the staff were excellent. I could not fault anyone.
My doctor sent me to the hospital last Thursday because I was in severe pain, but no one listened to my doctor’s letter. I had my son with me and no one to look after him. I also have a hidden disability, but no one noticed or checked in with me. I was stuck in a room until 2am and then they sent me back out to the waiting room with my son.nnEvery time I advocate for myself without a support worker in the room, I feel like no one listens to me, and it’s really unfair. If I’d had a support worker or someone with me, I reckon someone would’ve listened.nnWhen I asked the nurse a few times, I felt fully dismissed. I just think there should be more emergency hospitals in Geelong, because not everyone can afford private hospitals. I do understand you get busy, but I just wish I had a better experience.nnI ended up discharging myself because it was so late for my son, even though I was still in pain. Others were being seen before me and I understand you’re busy, but it was really hard as a single mum I was in there for 7 hours not seen by a doctor and blood test was done at 2am that morning
Had an excellent experience at emergency last night. Wait time was only around 2 hours and all the staff I encountered were kind, informative and caring. The only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars is that the waiting room was packed and it became hard to find a seat, and the line for the triage nurse was long with no seats available when waiting hard when you’re in pain.
