In contrast to the reviews about underwhelming service, I received VIP attention. Albeit, I only ordered takeaway, but it was all smiles and I could feel the effort to be nice. The lady behind the counter gave me a free bottle of water as my meal took a while to prepare. Opening my souvlaki box, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity. Chicken and lamb skewers, hot, smokey and tasty. Greek salad with a generous square of seasoned feta cheese and plenty of olives. Heaps of chips and pita bread, which was warm and soft. Plus a generous helping of cooling tzatziki sauce that went well with everything. Would recommend.
Pork, Chicken and Lamb were all very good all around the table, salad was good, and Pita and tzatziki were good also. I will add that it's proper gyros, horizontal and slow cooked over charcoal. Chips were a let down, if there's one item that you're expecting in a greek restaurant - it's greek chips. That means double fried, creamy and soft on the inside, and golden and crispy on the outside. These were just run of the mill single cooked packet chips. The bougatsa pastry was half cooked inside, and they've used the same custard from the galaktoboureko to make the bougatsa. Service was pretty bad, they asked us to sit down and then didn't come over to take our order! and when I asked for a fork, the girl handed me a business card - There's better service at Fawlty Towers. Saying that, I really do hope they take some positive feedback and fix the chips, fire the wait staff and maybe limit the dessert to one option or not at all, there's dessert across the road. Two fat greeks has the potential to be as popular as frangos if they make the right decisions. 5 Stars for the gyros, 2 for the chips, 1 for the staff.
The food is good only problem closes early by 10pm staff is staking chairs around you while you are having dinner and thats not a good look in any culture . Too much light although its a tavern/take away style where the tables are they could have less ligh.
First time eating here and won't be going back. The service was horrible, props to the younger man that was trying to be polite while the rude younger girl barked at him rudely about me while I stood there trying to order and pay. Waited for fresh chips and only received less than half the cup and were somehow dry and old tasting. Chicken in my wrap was large dry chunks and to top it off right at the bottom I found a delicious hair. If the food had have been better I could have turned a blind eye to the appalling service.
They forgot my dish but were very apologetic about it. Good thing that the food tastes amazing. Outside seating at night was nice with the heaters going. One of the only places that does octopus without the crumbing which is great. If you love meat then you can't go wrong.
Food was OK but pricey, and service was bad. I got the lamb pita wrap "lunch special" for $17.00 wrap, can and chips. Items across the menu are expensive. For example, a large chips is $10.50 and that might be the same price as buying it at Bondi Beach but on Canterbury Rd. The chips were pretty bland and the wrap was OK. Lady at the counter looked like she was in charge as she was older. I asked how much was a lamb pita wrap by itself, and she was insistent that it was also $17.00 the same price as the meal. I had to politely explain to her twice that they can't be the same price before she stopped explaining why they are the same price and looked it up on the register. She gave me the "I'll look it up just to humour you" look and it turns out It was $13.90. She had been pretty confident and was telling me irrelevant facts like, "it is the lunch special", and "lamb is extra". This place will pretty much be a last resort if nothing else is open.
This seems mostly like a take out place. The food is great and the service was good. The ambiance is off. It feels like a workplace cafeteria. If they just replaced the very strong lights with a warmer, dimmer, version, it would be much nicer. Will use for takeaways, maybe not dine in.
Terrible service. We arrived and waited five minutes to be seated nobody was waiting and the restaurant was half empty, and then after we were given menus, it took the waiter 20 minutes to return to take our order. We tried to signal several times to no avail. After our order was taken. we waited 45 minutes for our food - please note that we ordered the gyros which is the same as the takeaway option and should have taken no more than 5-10 minutes. We kept trying to talk to the waiter but he wouldn't come over - might not have seen us but I'm sure we made eye contact. Several other people who arrived at the same time as us had to go demand their food or asked to be served. We left after one hour and ten minutes with no food. The food looks delicious but we received abysmal service by the staff.
Wow! Im lost for words. My first time at this place and I am in awe. As soon as you walk in you feel energetic and alive. Beautiful authentic decor and ambiance. The staff here are incredible, so happy and eager to please. Smiles on their faces even at the end of the evening. Great customer service and amazing food. Fresh tasty ingredients and I highly recomemmend the souvlaki skewers, the meat was so tender. Will be back soon! Thank you to all the incredible staff, very enjoyable night!
Food is great if you like tasty Greek food, washed down with a nice glass of ouzo! Reasonably priced and generous servings which you can easily halve and share and not go hungry. Which means you can sample more of their mixed plates of dips and BBQ'd meats. Yum!
