TSB Stadium

About

TSB Stadium is a multi-purpose events centre that can cater for sports, concerts, exhibitions, trade shows dinners, conventions and community events.

Story

TSB Stadium is a true multi-purpose venue that features a Robbins Bio Channel sprung flooring tech-system. It has the ability to convert to a commercial event within hours of sports use. The stadium has an uninterrupted floor space of 2,200m², housing three full-sized sports courts, plus an entrance foyer that has a reception desk and ticket box. A mezzanine area overlooks the stadium floor and includes a full kitchen.

The TSB Stadium opened on 4 November 1992 as a multi-purpose community indoor venue, owned by us but operated by the TSB Stadium Trust Board. The local community raised money for the construction of the stadium through a 'Pool and Stadium Fund'. In total, $1.9 million was raised.

In 2004 New Plymouth District Council took over operational management of the TSB Stadium in line with other New Plymouth venues.

I've attended several volleyball matches here as a player and spectator. Usually during winter months. It does stay cool in the building so bring an extra layer. Updated facilities are nice. Lots of parking. Would be nice to have more chairs available upstairs for viewing of matches on the courts.
Had a fantastic night watching the NZ breakers!! Game was epic and the new toilet block accommodated nicely. Only problem was the heat, the stadium was a sweat box for us so I wondered how the players felt. Air con or massive fans are needed for sell out events. Also the seating on the bleachers is so uncomfortable, sore backs and bums for all. Suggest taking a pillow to sit on.
This stadium is used for large gatherings. It is used for sports events like basketball, netball, school sport exchanges and boxing. It also hosts various live theatre shows. Different groups use it during the day. Line dancing classes for older people is one of them. It is also used for funerals which are too large for a normal church. We held a combined Catholic church gathering on Sunday 8th October which hosted around 1000 Catholics.. We used half the stadium for the actual Holy Mass and the other half was used for everyone to mingle and share finger foods and drinks afterwards. The seating is very plentiful and it combines comfortable chairs and stadium seating. There's also seating high up on the second level. There's a very adequate cafe which sells all types of hot foods , snacks and drinks for patrons. The toilets are clean and well maintained. It is wheelchair accessible and parking is plentiful as it is also caters for horse racegoers.
I visited TSB Stadium for the NZ Tattoo & Art Festival. It is a fascinating event even if you are not, like me, into this sort of thing. It’s a big event, body illustration exercise on an industrial scale. Just add some bikes and live music and the all-day entertainment is pretty much guaranteed.nnVenue is good, but felt on very hot day a bit stuffy inside. Well worth making a trip from Wellington.nn#taranakilikenoother
There for the basketball and had a thoroughly enjoyable time with the family watching and cheering on the Taranaki Air, unsuccessfully as it turned out, but the kids still had a great time! Only gripe was no wifi coverage so couldn't post up about the event until I got home in the evening, and it is a council venue so that's under their control to sort out if they wanted
