Beautiful day trip from Hobart lovely to escape the city and listen to the birds... get your steps with the river bubbling along next to you as you bounce along the swinging bridge or wanders amongst the trees... look forward to coming back when the forest is fully regenerated.
Did the signal station walk from sandy bay.nWas a good walk warning it is all up hill and slightly rocky in places . Met an Echidna half way up which made it well worth it.
Beautiful views of Hobart, Derwent River, and southern waters. If you can't get up to Mt Wellington, Mt Nelson is pretty bloody good!
No dogs allowed on the Truganini track is pretty absurd. You can however use the Smugglers Gully track east of it to get from the parking to Mt Nelson. Same forest, but dogs allowed.
Went up the Truganini Track up, spotted lots of wildlife like echidnas. The view at the top is excellent as well.
