Great amount of things available for a wide range of children's ages including family games and craft activities as well as what is on trend for the tweens. Not sure if this store has any digital content available for sale such as gaming consoles and equipment for the play station/xbox etc.
One of the few stores that has stayed the same ever since I was a kid!!! Everytime I go in there it's like I'm travelling back into time as a child in my childhood because the store interior kudos for the owners keeping in the same for over 30 years! has not been touched and that's integrity, that genuine, that's old school and throwback! I respect that truly I do. While store interior is great, looks vintage etc. Sadly the toy count has declined over the 30 years etc. But that's more the fault of toy developers than the store itself, sometimes the goods do cost alittle more but than this a family business and it's hard for them to get as much stock as the much bigger franchises do so that's fine. I've gone and bought myself some Transformers just like I used to do as a child!, myself and the lady in that store whom I bet was around even in that time when I was a kid! shared a talk and a laugh, she told me that toys just aren't what they used to be! And I told her her I used to come here as a kid from 1985 onwards! It was great, so support these guys when you can and thanks for Power Of The Primes Dreadwing as well!!! Will do whatever I can to support these guys when decent stock rolls in and that's pretty rare these days! Update 2020: Please if you can support this Toyworld in 2020! It's a lovely store and one of the few original stores left in Elsternwick that been around for over 40 years! All the other toy stores in that area especially that one that sold LEGO are now gone. That lady store owner is so nice and helpful even directing customers to other stores to purchase goods at her own expense! Who does that these days?!.. Yes you'll pay abit more but this a family run version of Toyworld last of it's kind! and we need it here! It's the only part of my childhood that's left and it'll be so sad to see it go! Thanks for Earthrise Astrotrain and that K.O. like Mixmaster bless. Update 2022: Sad to say that Toyworld Elsternwick has now closed up permanently for good due to the family wanting to retire but I bet the land rent and rates had a lot to do with it as well!!?! Thanks for the great toys/memories in the 1980's twilight era, even thanks for the mid 2000's and right back to 2018 where I started collecting again. Helen and Noel will be well missed as well, just like their long term rival toy store "Child And Adult" the one with the train set and Duplo LEGO blocks via the front window that was the first to sell educational toys afew years back, the writing was on the wall....Pre 1984 to 2022 is a heck of a legacy to be proud about that few family-based franchises will ever live to tell a story too...Feels like a death me, the last part of an original Elsternwick institution now and probably going to be a lefty, commie, cuck coffee shop....One of the few reasons for me to visit Elsternwick is now gone now.....
I notice that other people have had poor service by a certain lady at this shop. All I can I say is that I have never as a customer felt so in the wrong for returning a product that was faulty. This lady has no idea about customer service and is absolutely rude and damaging to this shops reputation. She made us feel that we were an utter inconvenience when we returned a remote control car that was faulty. Eventually after huffing and puffing she replaced the product but that was also faulty and then she refused to deal with it until the owner returned from holidays. This was a $70 purchase for my daughter who is slightly annoyed not to have a Christmas present to play with. Do not ship here.. you can buy the same toys elsewhere with service and a smile.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful in assisting me find presents for 2 children. They recommended great toys, under my budget and gift wrapped them. Fantastic experience.
The customer service is really hot and cold here. Today I asked an older lady who's a regular staff member there not sure if she's the owner but I asked her if they had something and I was answered with a rude sigh "Oh I don't know. Whatever is there is what we have. Never even heard of it." And she shook her head, like I was BOTHERING HER and turned away back to her boxes. I was so shocked at her behaviour that I will never go back there.
Enough variety of toys, but smaller store than Southland. Could not find the games i had purchased at southland a week ago. If you are looking for offers and clearance, visit southland store instead.
I love that these small boutique toy stores are still in existence versus the likes of large conglomerates like ToysRus. Definitely a shop that the locals need to support and frequent to keep these lovely little toy shops open for future years to come.
Excellent business with really helpful people I believe in supporting local businesses provided they offer good services and advice The owners here are great and I will return as a customer
I received wonderful service from a lovely lady at your store today .My Granddaughter is very delighted with the lego I purchased Thank you so much you made our day
I 'phoned to ask if they had merchandise or books for the highly popular kids'TV series called "Operation Ouch.' The lady who answered said,'What?Never heard of it. Goodbye." Shocking manners.
