Bit pricey , meal sizing wasn't too bad. We had garlic king prawns and wasn't very much garlic in it. Drinks pricey . The vegetable spring rolls were huge and my son said they were yummy. Service was great and so friendly. Fried icecream, and sticky date pudding, and icecream sundae for deserts . Were so yummy was good night . Will go back again
Just had a delicious meal. Fast, friendly service. Tasty meal with lenty of meat and veg. Great easy dinner.
Service is lovely - thank you : Lunch special $30 for two people ordering straight from the menu no alterations. Small portions on children's plates. Lemon chicken had been pre battered and fried, in fact it had the same textured as a softened corrugated cardboard stack. A very small stack as not much chicken were harmed in the making of my chicken dish. Meagre sauce offering. Fried rice dry and a tiny portion. So so dry. And tasteless. I added salt pepper and soy sauce in attempt to bring joy to my plate. Nothing can make up for dry crusty rice though. We also had a combination chop suey- dark brown - exceptionally salty gravy, frozen vegetables and a quick game of find the meat. A short game because there were little to find. One piece of beef. My pensioner mother doesn't complain a great deal but.... I'm a fairly slight person and not a huge eater but I were left wanting also.... got a sandwich elsewhere. We love supporting small town chinese restaurants but we wouldn't be returning to this one. The service were delightful though.
I had to put 1 star because there isn't a minus option. Ordered takeaway. It was vile. The mongolian beef had the smell of rotting fish. My husband tried a couple of bits but we couldn't eat any of it. $50 straight in the bin. Our accommodation reeks of it. No amount of fresh air and air freshener can get rid of the smell.
Very disappointing meals - have to be the worst Chinese ever experienced. I was visiting Wynyard for my sister’s birthday and had never been to this restaurant before. We were only table eating in so I guess locals know better than to come here. Service was okay but we were kicked out at 8:30pm on a Thursday because they were closing. Would never eat here again and recommend avoiding!
Had a lunch special which comes with a free softdrink or wine for $14:90c. Food good but was a bit small for me as Iam a big eater but still worth it.
Don't you just love being able to leave honest reviews after horrendous dining experiences?!? I just wish Id thought of reading some before we entered Toy Sun Chinese restaurant in Wynyard. Hmmmm where to start... The girl who served us tonight was lovely... Really nice. Couldn't fault her... But I feel sorry for her. How embarrassed must she have felt to witness a table full of faces hastily lean in towards each plate with squinted eye, looking for the meat. The child's sized plate of scarcely fried rice with 1 peice of ham in it was a joke right?!?! My husband and 3 growing boys have manners; they don't 'guts out'. They leave enough for the next person. But here's the thing. I was the last to dig in to the original meager offerings. Disappointment only escalated after this point. On scraping up the last of the Mongolian beef to the sweet sweet sounds of my youngest declaring "I LEFT THE BIGGEST PEICE FOR YOU MUMMY!", I discovered that the 'biggest peice' now on my spoon was, infact, just a big peice of brown, sauce covered onion. Not a single shred of beef in sight. Dark sauce on a dark plate hides so much. We worked out that there were exactly 8 thin slices of beef in that $25 dish. Luckily they give you finger bowls to eat out of. Clever mind trickery there. Full bowl; full tummy. Was the honey chicken supposed to taste like that?!?! Guess we'll soon see. Then there's my hot and sour soup. It had canned prawns in it. Yep! Sad isn't it. It's Tasmania guys! Wynyard is a seaside town and you are cracking open tinned prawns?!?! And thanks for dumping half a packet of frozen peas in there! I don't even like peas! And im still looking for the mushrooms...pork...egg... Tofu...bamboo shoots... But wait, there's more! $4 for a pot of jasmine tea??? Pricey, given it's only water and leaves!!! You can only imagine how much I regretted offering to share the pot with my husband when she presented me with my "teapot". It was the size of a regular tea CUP...and the tea cups themselves, were not much bigger than an egg cup. I had to laugh. I really laughed my head off! Suffice it to say, I really wish we'd gone across the street to subway...
We attended Toysun last night and dined in, the meal was small even though 4 of us shared a banquet. It was hardly edible and my husband has been up since 3 o’clock this morning in the toilet! What a complete waste of $200.00 for the meal! We won’t go back
We ordered from the lunch menu, and added in 2 entrees, the dim sims steamed were quite nice, I felt they needed some onion, garlic or ginger to add that Chinese flavoured punch, the spring roll was huge, nice flavoured, well cooked and not greasy fabulous, and they had a taste of chinese 5 spice. Good service from the waiatress/cook. Thats the positives Sadly the lemon chicken and rice was beyond bland, some soy for the rice would have been something, just tasteless, my partner had pork in sauce, but he had to hunt for the pork in amongst the batter, his fried rice was better than mine, it at least had some veggies in it, Overall, not my thing, I wont be back, just because it was so bland.
Bit pricey, but not small serving. Fried duck was good. Light fried rice.
