Very tasty all you can eat restaurant located on Ivanhoe on the main strip, wasn't too busy on a Tuesday night, staff polite and attentive, the was no limit on how much ice cream we could eat Some of the dishes included Yakitori, sushi and Sashimi platter, curry katsu don, agedashi tofu, maki rolls, californian rolls, miso soup, okonomiyaki, tempura udon soup, fried rice, miso beef and teriyaki beef
Wonderful experience with their all-you-can-eat menu. Ordered almost all of the dishes available except the cooked rice and noodle section. Not much sashimi available on the menu, but nonetheless not spoiling the mood. It was a full house we went yet the staffs were attentive and food came out on a timely manner. Too many dishes to mention so I will sum it up by one word : delicious. Overall a great evening.
This was my first time trying this Japanese restaurant. At first it seemed great, the waitress was pleasant and they offered all-you-can-eat for about $43 pp, so we opted for that. We were told the conditions, which were that we had 90 mins to order/eat. The waitress said we could order as much off the menu as we wanted, but that the last round of ordering had to be at least 15 mins before our 90 mins was up. We ordered about 5 of the tapa sized things off the menu to start and easily ate through it all. It tasted okay, except for the sushi options, which were not of good quality. After we ate through the first round of about 5 plates shared by 2 people, we decided we wanted to order a few more things before asking for the bill we still had 45 mins left, btw. Only issue was, no one wanted to come to our table! My partner and I were looking at each other and started laughing a bit because it was so obvious we were being avoided, which was a joke. There was only 1 other table at this point, so they were not busy! So basically, ‘all-you-can-eat’ at this restaurant means that after you order a few things, they don’t want you to order more food. And if you do flag someone down to order a few more plates, they will resent you. I felt so uncomfortable that I actually apologised for ordering more! The waitress was emotionless at that point, so I guess they really felt put out that 2 people actually wanted to order more food with their remaining 45 mins of sitting time. I was confused because they made it seem like they’d keep checking on us during the 90 mins, but clearly that was not the case! I actually think they were hoping that after 40 mins into it, we would pay and leave, even though it was not busy in there. Really disappointing that the vibe changed when we wanted to order more things off the menu and were made to feel unwelcome. Next time I will choose one of the other Japanese restaurants in Ivanhoe. Definitely not going back here.
Beware - ‘All-you-can-eat’ is a scam. We have been going to Toyama for 10 years for all sorts of occasions - celebrations and family catch ups alike. Tonight we went for my father in law’s 80th birthday, which was unfortunately a huge mistake that we are not likely to repeat. Since going all-you-can-eat, this restaurant has become closer to Fasta Pasta than the quality establishment we have frequented in years gone by. The service was slow and lacked care. When we ordered a second set of meals - it was all-you-can-eat after all - they simply did not put the order in. When we asked if they would give us the food on take away containers we had waited for twenty minutes for the food with two kids getting increasingly noisy they told us this was not possible. If you are really stuck and have to go there, avoid the all you can eat option - it is a scam. Is you have been here before the renovations, keep looking. There are better options in the area. Very, very disappointing experience and won’t be going back. Devastated to lose a favourite restaurant.
Myself and my partner came to the restaurant twice this week. The first time was for Valentines Day. The food was beautiful, super tasty. The service was terrible. We were sat waiting to order for 20 minutes I can acknowledge it was busy but with a 90 minute time limit, and hadn’t even ordered, this takes up quite some time. Our first dish, which was sushi, arrived 45 minutes into our session, and we were so excited to eat, but unfortunately did not have plates, cutlery, or soy sauce on the table until the manager saw us looking at her and instructed a waitress to do something about it. The food saved the day on what otherwise would be a terrible dining experience. The second time was tonight. It was less busy than Valentine’s Day, but the service was atrocious. We had to ask the waiters and waitresses numerous times about our missing food, we went through two 30 min periods where we had no food on the table - I don’t know if this is supposed to be some tactic to get people to eat less during all you can eat? The food was okay, but some items were not as advertised on the menu. The salmon salad had no avocado. The teriyaki portions were tiny. The only highlight of our night was one of the waiters being extremely nice despite it being his first day he seemed to be the only person with a sense of urgency. Overall, there needs to be work done on staffing, both quality and understaffing. You’re better off going to Okami and paying less for great service.
Poor service, went for the all you can eat, We were only allowed 90 minutes to eat which was fine. But, when they brought the food out every 30 minutes we quickly realised it wasn’t really “all you can eat”. There are much better all you can eat places in the area after this experience. I will be taking my business to Okami personally in the future.
Came here for ‘all you can eat’ tonight and was given max two hours. The first waitress showed impatience when we were ordering and told us that wasting food will occur $15 charge when each of us ordered a chicken skewer meal. Yes, we are big eaters and we didn’t intend to waste any. After we finished the first round of food, we planned to order more, but all the waitresses avoided our desk deliberately. We waited for one hour with empty plates in front of us until a few more food arrived! One of us was still hungry and ordered one more misu beef, which never turned up. When we went to pay for the bill, we were only told the amount that we needed to pay without receipt presented. When we requested to see the bill, we found out that they charged us a $14.5 drink which we never ordered. no apologies! How ridiculous that we walked out an ‘ all you can eat’ restaurant feeling still hungrywouldn’t recommend it and wouldn’t come back again they probably won’t want us back either
I would give a zero star if I could. Food took over an hour and was disgusting, there was a cockroach on the floor & the waitress with tattoo accross her chest was extremely rude, the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Do yourself a favour and go to one of the other great Japanese restaurants in Ivanhoe!
Dined here for lunch. Restaurant wasn’t very busy,I ordered the curry katsu chicken. The waiter bought out my rice 10 mins before my food. Chicken was stone cold as was the rice by that time. Nobody asked how my meal was. Service was very average.
Good all you can eat Japanese food. Very fast to bring out the food.
