Townsville Hospital

I spent some hours in Emergency recently. While doctors were not able to identify or rectify my problem, the efforts of nurses and a particular young female doctor were amazing and so appreciated. The doctor was thorough, explained every step along the way and was so, so compassionate, kind and caring in the process. I hope, by chance, that she might read this from one very appreciative patient. Kathy

Come here to WATCH YOUR LOVED ONES DIE. We brought a 1yo with repeated projectile vomiting to emergency. It was 20 minutes without being checked in only people in queue before we left to care for baby ourselves. One admin staff cared to say once, without looking up from her hidden phone, "nurse is busy". The others walked by slowly pretending not to notice that a child was dying in the emergency room. When baby vomited a nurse haphazardly wiped it up with a towel not even disinfectant!!. Even if the triage nurse was busy, the admin staff should have checked a baby in. Meanwhile, there were about 10 suffering souls in the waiting room. One indigenous woman was in fetal position across the chairs shivering uncontrollably just to stay alive.

I recently attended the Endoscopy Unit for day procedure and wanted to give a shout out to all the staff............from the lady at reception to the most incredibly caring nurses and the wonderful doctor. I have had around 14 surgeries at other hospitals both private and public and have never experienced the same level of care and compassion as I received at TUH. Thank you all for the amazing job.

We are so lucky to have a health system that doesn't charge us. The TGH has always been good to me and my kid and even tho sometimes wait times are slow they have always been very good with care provided. Especially in the paediatrics ward.

From arriving at the ED until the time I left 3 days after that I was treated wonderfully. The surgical 3 team doctors nurses and all other staff should be commended for the job they do. If I ever have to go back to hospital I hope it's there.

Our daughter was flown into TUH from outback QLD. She has had exceptional care from the very beginning and throughout her treatment. The bedside manner of staff has been supportive, caring, kind and welcoming. Support for our family at Leukaemia House, a home away from home was nothing short of awesome. Thank you to Dr Joel, Dr Adam, Matt and the whole team on the oncology ward.

My child had to go to emergency on Friday the 10th of March. He had a boil on his knee & a terrible infection. Dr Zaf, Dr Chris and nurse Michael in Paeds were absolutely amazing. They were professional and looked after my boy in the most caring fun loving ways going avice and beyond. We have been in Paeds several times and I can’t fault them. Amazing team. Thank you for everything you all do to.

Ramping. Not enough staff. Wait times unacceptable and cleanliness unacceptable also. People being sent home that should be admitted because not enough beds or staff. Not caring at all because of the overwhelming number of patients and work to be assessed. Huge systemic problems that the most vulnerable are suffering more as a result..

I had a 2.30 PM appointment and the doctor was on time, was very professional and I was able to be finished my appointment within in half an hour. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. On previous occasions I have had to make enquiries at the desk which.is manned by volunteers and they have also been friendly and helpful.

I generally have a fantastic experience of the STAFF at the hospital. The hard working doctors, nurses and ancillary staff generally are terrific. [5 stars] The POLITICS of the place is totally different.
