Since moving to the neighbourhood a couple of years ago, Tonto has become our "go to" for coffee. Apart from great coffee, the banter with owners Con, Steve and Alex makes a visit to Tonto worthwhile. A popular spot with locals, Tonto also serves meals and has a range of cakes and slices. If you haven't had the pleasure of trying Tonto, it's certainly worth a visit!
Awesome almond cappuccino every time. Perfect strength, flavor and temperature. My favorite cafe on the area. If you passing by definitely give it a try.
I'm glad for people who had positive experiences here, but unfortunately we didn't and I think this place is higly overrated. Long story short, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I like, but you should try if you don't care about the service in general. There were signs of poor service when we arrived, such as nobody gave us a table it wasn't even busy yet and the waitress asked what we want without saying hello or even giving us the menu! Anyway, we ordered food and coffees, when we got the food I realized that they got a wrong order for one of the dishes so I had to let them know. The waitress checked with the guy who got our orders then just dissapeared without excusing herself and apologizing for the mistake they made. I find it so odd that she didn't even bother to say I'm sorry. My partner ate his food alone because it took them a decent amount of time that my partner was done with his food while they were cooking mine. My food was okay, but his eggs benedict wasn't impressive at all. The eggs were more like the hard boiled eggs which is fine if you ordered hard boiled eggs. I see a lot of people mentioning about their coffee, and trust me we did like our coffee as well, but it still doesn't make this place so special. The coffees are great because of the beans they use. There are a few cafes that have exact same coffee beans and offer great service. I'd recommend those places instead. I'm leaving two stars because my partner is generous, but for me this place deserve only one star and you may find out why if you ever go.
Friendly staff, great coffee, tasty fig slices. Indoor & outdoor seats. But nice to sit on the benches at side of shop, cus its road is quiet.
Good coffee, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good value, tasty food and caters for dietary requirements. Ticks all the boxes! I had the panini with bacon, scrambled eggs and tomato relish which was delicious and very generously portioned. Definitely worth a second visit!
Best coffee made by Stephen, super welcoming staff, blessed to have a local cafe who make the effort to introduce people to eachother to build a community
The girl with a war bonnet and face paint street art on the side of this cafe is cultural appropriation. The owners should look into the history of war bonnets and their intense important to indigenous communities and NOT USE IT TO ADVERTISE A BUSSINESS! It. Is. RACIST.
$7.30 for a soy dirty chai which I didn't mind too much about as long as the coffee was good. Unfortunately it tasted like water. Went back in and asked for a soy latte instead as I didn't trust replacing the dirty chai would get me a different outcome. Unfortunately, I was not compensated for the price difference and got my soy latte with 1 sugar WITHOUT the sugar and also like watered down coffee. Very disappointing for a Cafe when your first/main offering is a complete let down.
Rude, hostile, hypocritical and think they are above the law. When I arrived, both owners and the barista were NOT wearing masks. One owner asked me why I wasn’t wearing my mask. I advised I had a medical exemption, and reminded him he served me the prior week as well. He demanded to see my exemption documentation. I said I don’t have to show it as it is private medical information. He demanded that I had to show it to him. I said he has no right to ask for it. He then told me to go out so they can serve me through the outdoor takeaway window. I said that was fine, but I didn’t understand the problem as they had served me the week before, and in any case, when I arrived none of them were wearing masks. The owner said "they only need to wear masks when customers come in”. They have since put signs up saying no mask, no entry. I have no problem if they refuse my business, but to demand my medical exemption, not wear their own masks, and then tell me they only need to wear masks when customers come in, is just wrong. I went to the cafe next door and they were amazing, lovely and had delicious coffee.
I only got take away coffee but it’s great. Barista knows how to deal with soy milk, perfect temp.
