Delicious Italian food! Quick service, polite staff. Was quite busy for a Sunday night so would recommend booking on weekends.nHowever!! The bathroom was extremely messy/unhygienic with toilet paper thrown across the ground, definitely impacting my otherwise lovely experience
The queue is always long even under such cold winter weather. They have outdoor or indoor seatings. Generally, I was expecting better food from authentic Italian restaurants in Melbourne when I stood in the queue to get a table for 4. We were a little disappointed with the small table when the plates and dishes are big. Good thing the service staff advised us from ordering more. Food wise, I didn’t find the taste fantastic but it’s above average. The mussels served were very small. The prawn bisque was good though. Other than that, the Risotto was average. Did I say the servings were huge? The atmosphere was quite cosy and warm. In fact, I find the tables are too close for comfort. Would I go back there again, may be I will look for another restaurant to experience different cuisine.
My go-to Italian restaurant in Melbourne. They have the best food and wine selection, it’s close to the city, accessible by tram and a no-nonsense place. You could not have asked for more!nnThe indoor seating is a bit compact and the place is dimly lit. So this may not be the best place for a quiet/romantic date. But if it’s delicious and heartily portioned Italian food you’re after - this is it!
Have you ever tried Italian Won Ton Soup?nnIt’s actually called:nn Tortellini in Brodo nnMeat-filled Tortellini with Spinach Leaves in Chicken BrothnnAnd it is a MUST have, especially when enduring Melbourne’s Winter!nnI recommend ordering the Garlic Focaccia as well to dip into the soup and parmesan cheese on the side.nnI mean… how can one eat pasta without the cheese? That’s like having a coffee with no caffeine. And that makes-a no sense .nnYou will love it here!nnI found this place by bumping into Le Chef, Phillip on the street! He had the coolest traveler’s bag that caught my attention. Turns out he’s from the Czech Republic so I knew if I ate there, I’d be eating a Good Quality meal nnFranco one of the owners told me it’s actually a family-owned business.nnHence the place and ambiance having so much authenticity and character—you can tell this restaurant was made with heart.nnThere’s really no need to fly to Italy when you can just come to Tiamo in Melbourne’s very own “Little Italy,” Lygon St.nnLooking forward to coming back and trying more on the menu!nnCiaooooonnCarla The Foodie Writer
Food was average, service was below average.nThe carbonara was bland and under seasoned, the tortellini and arancini were fine but nothing amazing.nThe staff were very unfriendly and unenthusiastic. The service was all over the place. Our cocktails came out at different times, they had to come back to our table to double check our mains order, and our plates were cleared at different times. Was never asked if we wanted another cocktail or dessert.nWould not recommend, one of the worst Italian restaurants I’ve been to recently.
