in the 1890's william John Thwaites began a bakery in Queenscliff. The Thwaites family were all known in Queenscliff with William serving as Mayor.
James Thwaites started up his own bakery in Colac in 1909 after finishing his baking apprenticeship with his uncle William. Now james' grandsons and great grandsons have carried on the tradition baking quality bread, pies and cakes in Colac.
