Thunderbird Cafe serves up an incredible menu of authentic Southern, Cajun, & Tex-Mex cuisine with everything made fresh in house daily.

Story

Thunderbird Cafe is a fun, kitschy little cafe in the heart of the CBD on Featherston Street between Brandon and Panama Streets.

Often imitated but never duplicated, we serve up a fabulous mix of Tex-Mex and Southern American cuisine with a Kiwi twist. We make everything in house from scratch daily, including smoking all our meats. All of the flavor with none of the pretension.



"Thunderbird Cafe was established in 2011 with the intention of offering something a little different, little quirky.We are an eatery that’s a jack of all trades ranging from delicious breakfast, alcoholic milkshakes, delicious Southern Fried chicken, curly fries and entire tex mex menu. Went in for a Keto breakfast and wasn't disappointed! Eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection and the coffee was great. All staff were super friendly and helpful, definitely be visiting again when in Wellington again.

Stumbled across this funky cafe for brunch today. Waited a while to get served and then to receive our food. However we did enjoy our breakfast burger with curly fries sadly no frings. Coffee hit the spot too.
Loved to have Keto options available. Both, on the menu and in the cabinet. Inclusive of macros. Their slices are divine! Highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: Keto menu
Stopped for coffee abd glad that it was open on a Sunday. Good coffee. Didn't eat. Not many people so quiet and good for conversation.Service: 4/5
I normally come here for the coffee, there’s one guy who makes an insanely good mocha, appreciate it man.
It's been a few years since we went there, as the food and service was going downhill fast. Recently been back, and big changes have been made, service and food are back on point. Love the breakfast burrito, and there is a great range of kids options too.
This place is nice. It is a little on the pricey side of things though, so best to save some money before visiting. This is to be expected though due to economy issues. Pleae don't let this put you off going here though. Please support this local establishment either way
