Safe to say this will be my first and last Thrifty experience, one star is generous when I should be calling the police, and you sadly can’t give less. A $63.35 charge for fuel which is downright disgusting. The car was filled the night before I returned it at 5am the next morning, and the gauge hadn’t moved. Apparently it was 7/8 full, which would mean these crooks charge $510 to fill a Corolla, all the while trying to claim that “Thrifty is the brand of choice for deal hunters looking for a great car rental for their next trip.” Had already paid an exorbitant amount for the 18-hour rental, the pick-up process was painful, now this. Never again.
BE REALLY CAREFUL - extra hidden charges! When we booked online, the charges were not really transparent - after you add the zero excess insurace which you can only buy at the counter the hidden extras were recalculated and shot up. Their location fee and admin recovery is apparently charged by percentage which never clearly explained in the booking confirmation. You also have to pay by credit card with 1.227% surcharge no cash option - even though we had cash ready in hand!! making it harder when you live overseas because the bank will charge you again with exchange rates! All in all, the car was good but the lack of transparency and flexibility was shocking and off putting for repeat business. Not sure if we'd use them again.
Car was OK service at Airport OKish BUT lookout for the $100 credit card transaction fee. No explanation no follow up answers, forget trying to ring & email address bounced. The online quote does not include quite a lot of additional charges. & Web site offered no affective way to inform Thrifty of change in arrival time. And they ask all the same questions you filed online when booking. Anyway I hope you have a better experience than me.
The whole staff at the Gold Coast Airport car rentals did an amazing job yesterday 28/02/22 when the airport was flooded and flights could not get out. Helping me out when I was exhausted and in a panic of what to do the lovely young lady actually found my car for me as I was too stressed to see clearly! If that was not enough when I dropped the car back they found my glasses in the car and contacted me immediately and I was able to get them back before boarding my flight the next day. Thank you all for your patience and smiles. It was so lovely when the situation was so bleak.
Decent car, but the touchscreen did not work. The worst, however, is that they charge a $35 toll administration fee, for toll charges incurred. There's no way around this. Had two tolls $5 and $4 and had to pay this exorbitant fixed fee for them to process the tolls!
Car was OK. Service was average. Forgot a phone holder in the car and impossible to get back. Ring 136139 and the machine replied. Logged a complaint and all I got is an automatic case number which no one followed up.
Easy to deal with and not sneaky like some Car hire places. Upgraded model given as booked class unavailable due to circumstances.
