My recent visit to The Watershed Kitchen in Sydney was an utterly disappointing experience, meriting nothing more than a one-star review.nThe primary issue was the shockingly poor service we received from a waitress, an Asian woman in her 30s or 40s with short hair. On a Friday night, my husband and I found ourselves to be the sole patrons from 5pm to 6pm, yet the welcome we received was anything but warm. Despite our friendly gestures and repeated thanks, our efforts were met with cold indifference.nnThe situation escalated when we placed our order, only to be met with disdain, as if our choices were a burden to her. Attempting to break the ice and perhaps understand her better, we politely inquired for her name, to which she flatly refused. This refusal not only felt rude but also raised concerns about the transparency and safety of the service we were being provided.nnThe entire ordeal was not just terrible; it was shockingly memorable for all the wrong reasons. Not once did we receive a smile or even the slightest acknowledgment when leaving.nnThank you the Watershed Kitchen for providing us such an impressive experience. We definitely will not be there again.
The food/drinks and atmosphere was great. However the service by an East Asian lady needs attention as I can see many other reviews have detailed her rudeness. I urgently needed to use the bathroom and my partner waited at the front to ask for a table for our drinks. When I asked for the bathroom the waitress directed me across the road without asking if we were intending to eat at the restaurant. Waitress should be trained to not make assumptions of people and to be honest - I completely understand the bathroom issue and it not being available to people not intending to buy from the restaurant so a simple “we don’t allow customers who don’t eat here to use our bathroom facilities” would have sufficed rather than rude and unreasonable behaviour.
Our Christmas dinner at this waterfront gem was a symphony of culinary delights against a stunning backdrop. The evening commenced with a shared entree platter, a delightful prelude featuring garlic sourdough bread, briny olives, sun-dried tomatoes, and a refreshing rocket Parmesan salad. The flavors were as diverse as the breathtaking views, setting the stage for an exquisite dining experience. From the luscious mains of salmon, oven-roasted chicken, and pork belly to the tantalizing dessert choices, each dish showcased culinary finesse. The combination of delectable food, attentive service, and a picturesque waterfront view made our celebration truly unforgettable. Highly recommended for those seeking a perfect blend of taste and ambiance.
I had a twice cooked crispy skin pork belly and espresso martini. The pork was so fatty and greasy, quite salty on its skin. The cranberry sauce tasted like from a jar cranberry, correct me if I was wrong was so sweet and just too much. It came with apple and potato frittatas which tasted bland. It cost $38.5. Espresso martini was $17.50 tasted a bit acidic and so so. My friend’s dory fish also tasted bland, not sure if it was a frozen pack fish $42.50. 3 stars for food review was generous. Staffs were friendly but a bit slow. There’s also a credit card surcharge. Ambiance was nice with Drummoyne’s aquatic pool and water view across, airy with lots of green leaves and trees. Lovely ambiance but a poor quality of food for the price tag.
We had a birthday function a week before Christmas 2022 delayed review , chose the Alfresco area with a lovely atmosphere over looking the waters as it was summer.nFood was nice and service was attentive & friendly - all my guests enjoyed the evening!nnThank you
