All of my 'unusual' pets have visited the clinic over the last 12 months for various issues and I've been so happy with the care they have all received. We're VERY lucky to have access to vets who have experience in treating exotic and unusual animals. I feel super confident taking my bunnies and chickens there and wouldn't go anywhere else. All the staff nurses included! have been so friendly and helpful. I have never felt rushed during an appointment or pressured to choose a particular treatment - options have always been provided and costs are always explained clearly. We love all of our vet friends but have a great appreciation for our exotic/unusual pet vets! The extra training and study they have completed to be able to provide the best care is so very much appreciated. Sarah + Chia, Tofu, Beaker, Bertie and Betsy
My partner and I have pet rats and we take them to Unusual Pet vets and we could not be happier with their services. We see Dr Chris and she is absolutely incredible, she's compassionate and loves seeing our little rats. I could not recommend this vet clinic enough to anyone who has an exotic pet.
Very friendly staff and Dr Hamish is the best avian Dr ever. He did an absolutely wonderful job with our parrot Ollie. If you are looking for a caring friendly and knowledgeable Dr then I recommend booking a visit with Dr Hamish and the team.
I don’t want to doubt a “specialist”, especially on an exotic animal “specialist”, because they’re already very rare in Melbourne. But yes, sorry, I just can’t believe why my ferret’s conditions turned down in just 2 weeks. And I lose him today.nnThe whole story is, I brought my ferret to this vet on 03/10, just right the day before that, he was still eating all the food we provided, finished his treat, his a bit skinny but still good. On the day after we went to the vet, the staffs told me he was not healthy. His lymp, dental disease, maybe some heart problem as well. Dr Christina Karagiorgis was the vet we met. She provided us a list of $1, 300++, including sedative, ultrasound, x-ray, blood sample and etc.nnThe same day afternoon, another vet staff, a gentleman called me, telling me his main problem, chronic heart disease and kidney problem as well, and they started the medication on him. On 04/10, I brought him back home, the staff told me to gave him medicine twice a day, and also the some of the Hills k/d cat pouch to keep his kidney working.nnStarting from that time, everything turns bad. He start to refuse to eat, eating lesser and lesser, his poo is always runny. I gave the vet a call, they told me that was normal because he ate runny stuff, just feed him whatever he wanted to eat.nnIn two weeks time he turned from the first pic to the second pic. At the end I can’t even use a syringe to get him eat because he refuses to open his mouth. And today morning, I have to bring him to the nearest vet for euthanasia, bc I don’t want to see him suffer anymore.nnMy little boy was already almost 7, as a vet, I believe Dr Christina Karagiorgis would know better than anyone else, how much harm would cost for an elder ferret for a sedation. I don’t understand why, I emphasis so many times, I want him to be safe when everything was being processed.nnI hope everyone think twice before bringing your pet to this vet. Bc I can 100% sure if without bringing my little one to this vet, he could live longer.
Amazing vets. We take our school chooks there, and when we had to put one of them down, the vets were so thoughtful and kind about it. They even sent a card in the weeks later, with well wishes and flower seeds that we planted on our chicken's grave. Highly recommend.
