Melbourne's most majestic live music, wedding and function venue.
Built in 1925 with original features.
18+ Venue (under 18s to be accompanied by guardian)
Two rooms available with capacity from 100-800 people.

Story

We can cater for events from 50 to 700.
We have 2 spaces The Velvet Room for intimate events from 50 to 300 people.
The Ballroom which retains the striking ceiling and walls from the original cinema, we can host events from 120 people for a wedding to a concert for 700 people. Weddings, school events, live music, birthdays, we have hosted them all.
Thornbury Theatre Parking. Please park in High st or in the Safeway carpark over Dundas St. It's a 5 minute walk and saves on trying to find a park. Please refrain from parking in Plow St as it is paid resident parking.

Thornbury Theatre rocked the Bushfire Appeal with The Teskey Brothers, Cash Savage and The Last Drinks and Grace Cummings. Originally I found the venue when attending Women of Letters Sundays. Art Deco interior is impressive.
Good cold beers, in pot, pint and stein sizes. Food was good, our orders were simple Chicken Parma, Saganaki, Chicken Pea Chips. Food came quickly. Look forward to trying the ribs and some other stuff on the menu that looks good. Prices were reasonable mid range pub meal prices.
Saw Alli Barter here during covid. Everyone was standing safely apart. It was still a great show and in fact enjoyed it even more so than a crowded gig.
A good place to attend functions. Limited parking spaces though. Park inside the bylanes.
Friendly staff and good food. Great place.
For wrestling, this is one of the best venues in Melbourne!

Saw Ali Barter last night at the Thornbury theatre. Great venue and lots of space to move around and dance socially distanced!
Am amazing old place. I've been here to see some amazing acts and some not so amazing but you gotta be there. Good beer, good wine, good atmosphere, acoustics are good. Some good eateries are also close by.
