Such a lovely location and community. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was brilliantly delivered. Will definitely revisit.
Amazing vibe, amazing service, amazing food. No complaints, got the Nutella waffles and loved them. I would probably ask for a bit less Nutella next time but that’s just a personal preference as I started to be overwhelmed with chocolate towards the end. Was really filling and I only got through 3 quarters of it before tapping out but it was really good. The cute, cabin vibe that made me believe I was out exploring was so refreshing and the prices were really good, to the point I was surprised how much I got for what I paid. 100% would recommend and definitely going back again.
We came on a Friday around noon. It was fairly busy. The service was friendly and efficient. The tables outside on the back varandah are the best tables, looking out to bushland down to the river. The food came out in reasonable time, & the quality was excellent. The loose leaf Chai was lovely. The prices reasonable for the excellent quality of the food. All in all highly recommended. Parking: Lots of parking
An excellent lunch, great service despite being busy too. Thanks, we’ll be back.
Next to the woods, it is very comfortable to sit outdoors in summer. The stone walls inside are very nice, the coffee is fragrant, and the production is a little less refined. It is a good place to chat.
We came here around 11am on a Sunday and the place was quite busy so lucky we made a booking. Various breakfast options were available as well as kids options. I had the breakfast burger which was reasonable. Overall the venue and food was ok... Would I go out of my way to come back? Probably not, there are other options in Warrandyte that aren't as isolated where you can have a walk along the river.
I was lucky enough to have my wedding here, the rustic venue was perfect. The food incredible, the staff so helpful, friendly and made my event stress free. The for those with dietary requirements couldn’t believe the options and how they weren’t stuck with the usual vegetarian dishes at weddings. Those who were vegetarian not only were able to join everyone in the side dishes but the dish they had made up for them was pretty special and delicious all coming from them!! I still have people talking to me about the lemon potatoes and calamari, I don’t think I’ve had calamari anywhere as great as here!! Lamb on spit, cooked perfectly! And moreeeeeee! Thank you for making my special event amazing and stress free
Was seated, asked if we wanted to order drinks to start so we did . Then when we went to order when the drinks came out we were then told the kitchen is already closed. That should be something said when you enter if its close to closing k i then or its even already closed. Apart from that the coffee was good.
A comfortable rustic Cafe/Restaurant with a relaxed ambience. Balcony overlooks bushland close to Yarra River. Walking distance from Warrandyte down a bush track. Reasonable breakfast menu offered to 3pm, when kitchen closes. Lots of parking, just turn down the side street.
The Stonehouse has been an institution in Warrandyte for many years. I’ve visited here a dozen times but recently it’s changed hands. The floor layout is slightly different but basically the decor is the same. Timber floors, stone walls, open fire and a selection of large and small tables. There is outdoor seating on the deck which in summer is delightful. It overlooks the large trees and often birdlife such as parrots, cockatoos and magpies come to visit. Just don’t feed them as it’s not good for their avian tummies. The menu is new and although it has all the usual breakfast treats - eggs on toast, smashed avocado or granola, the specials certainly caught my eye and so I decided to order the Lunch Special of Beef Rib Burger Smokey pulled beef rib, slaw, aioli, chimmichurri sauce with sweet potato waffle fries. My daughter ordered smashed avocado with bacon and tomatoes and eggs on sourdough. Meals were okay but nothing to shout from the roof about. Burger kinda fell apart once I took the skewer out from the top of the bun. Meat average and would’ve been nicer if it had been sliced a few times as it was quick thick and difficult to bite into. Unfortunately, they delivered the wrong food to the table, took 25 minutes for our meal and then it was ‘just okay’. Service was good considering they were very busy. Please ask staff within l-o-n-g hair to tie it up not just back. The acoustics weren’t great just because of the floors and layout. Takeaway coffee available or perhaps a macaroon or brownie available at the counter as well. There is also a small display of tea, coffee, olive oil and other items for sale. I see on the menu that they have a ‘What’s in at the Stonehouse’ - High Tea Tuesday’s $35 per head with bookings essential. Notes: wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly high chairs available. Dietaries catered for. Good parking either out the front or on the carpark on the east side of the restaurant and at the rear.
