I have been coming to the Sebel hotel for many years now whenever I go on holiday to Sydney and have had no issues in the past. This time however was very disappointing. It was by far the worst hotel I have stayed in. To start off, the air-conditioning wasn't working in some of the bedrooms which was quite bad seeing as it is mid summer with 30-40 degree days. Additionally, after looking further I found blood stains in my bedsheets which was honestly just disgusting. The Sebel hotel praise themselves for their clean and sanitized rooms but to say that was a lie is an understatement. The bathrooms, bedsheets and other areas of the hotel room had looked like they hadn't been cleaned since the stone ages, curtains were ripped, bedsheets were dirty, pillows had stains the list goes on. Finally, to top things off, the pool heater had broken and they had claimed that they were working diligently to fix it. After 6 days the pool had still not been fixed, I don't mean to nit pick but honestly I'm just disappointed in the whole experience. Truly a horrible place to stay and I will not be returning. Strategically located, surrounded by shop and restaurant. Very spacious apartment. Pool is outdoor but covered , water is cold. Can hear the train noise if you are light sleeper.
Very unsatisfactory experience: 1. Room was filthy. Windows were covered in dirt and so the view was barely perceptible. Dirty sock was found in the main bed, so it appeared like the bed hadn’t been changed since the last guest. Kitchen was greasy and grimy. 2. No curtains were in the main bedroom. Called manager who hung some old, dirty blankets on the windows with paper clips.Curtains in living area we’re broken. 3. Room had heavy stink of burnt food. Apparently another guest had burned food and it the smell travelled through the ventilation. 4. Air conditioner controls were broken and the room was freezing. 5. Discarded building materials and dirty clothing overalls and helmet were left on the balcony. After our stay, we contacted the main office and registered our issues with their customer service area. After a number of months, we have not received any response. Walkability: Right on main pedestrian precinct, and restaurant and shopping area of Chatswood.
Don’t stay here!!! There are very few parking spots, about 10 or less. The interior is very old and stained. It looks so dirty. The beds are super uncomfortable and walls/windows so thin you can hear everything in the apartment including the trains. Not worth it. Stay somewhere else. We should have read the reviews before coming here but we figured that it’s an Accor place and the Accor places we previously stayed at were nice so we expected much the same. It’s definitely not.
Do not stay here unless you fancy staying in a dirty, disgusting and old hotel with zero customer service. The moment I entered the room, I could see that the furniture was covered in dust and the kitchen cabinets and fridge were greasy and had fingerprints all over them. I'm going to guess they've never been wiped before. The place smelt like mould and the carpets were stained. The beds were not configured the way we'd asked for, which meant our kids couldn't sleep for an hour while we waited for it to be fixed. When they did eventually pull out the sofa bed to make it up, there was an empty coffee cup and rubbish underneath it. The cleaners had left cleaning spray on the bathroom vanity and I wouldn't be surprised, given the state of the room, if they'd left half way between a clean and forgot to come back and do the rest and take their supplies with them. The pillows are massive and rock hard. We mentioned these things to staff politely on within hours of being there and they kept putting us off saying a manager was not in and they couldn't help. They gave us a packet of wipes so we could clean the room ourselves, but we still felt gross being there. The whole experience was a disgrace and I'd strongly urge you not to stay here if you value decent accommodation.
Only rating 4 stars due to the location, right in the action of Chatswood 2 mins walk to supermarket and train. Otherwise we found the room quite tired and run down when we visited in January 2023. Our room had everything we needed, but the furniture very basic and well used. The wifi only allowed 3 devices connected at one time, it's not 2010 anymore! However staff on reception were friendly and helpful. Rooms: Run down and tired. Walkability: Minutes walk to supermarket, restaurants, shops and train station. Fantastic location.
Location is great. Rooms are spacious - love having the kitchen and laundry for a 2-6 night stay. Decor is outdated. We have stayed here twice in 4 months Jan and Apr both times the pool heating has been out of service. It's an ice bath without heating! Impossible to swim even in the heat of January. Such a shame that they can't have it operational for the school holidays - it part of the reason we booked again. Beds seem old too and saggy. I'm sharing a king bed with my 13yo daughter and we were stuck in a ditch in the middle of the bed most of the night.
Not clean, felt like a shower after I left. Pool cold, why we stayed there, I only carry my phone to pay. Have to have a real card. Booked breakfast, told it wasn’t offered on arrival.
Location is the only positive thing about this place. My TV wasn’t working, no internet access was working, my aircon also wasn’t working and on 30+ degree days the nights were uncomfortable. The fridge smelt, the tvs weren’t even smart tvs. Everything was outdated. The whole apartment was aged, all furniture was stained, grout in bathroom wasn’t clean. I had hair in my bathroom and upon further inspection the drain plug for the bath was COVERED in hair. Shampoo, body wash etc was all watered down. I didn’t even want to shower or brush my teeth with their water as the stardard was that bad. To say this place was disgusting is an understatment. If I could give a negative 5 star review I would!
