Nice historic hotel in a very central location. Some rooms have a bathroom. While other rooms share a bathroom. But these were very clean. The decor is old, but not distasteful. Rooms are small, but have high ceilings so you don't feel claustrophobic. No air-conditioning but shouldn't be a problem for most of the year except on very hot humid days. However, the windows do open, and they have a ceiling fan. The location is excellent, right on George Street next to Circular Quay and the historic district of The Sydney Rocks. There is a restaurant available downstairs. Some rooms are only accessible by a short staircase. I liked the hotel. It has a historic continental charm about it.

The Russell Hotel at The Rocks is a great find with its location being so close to Circular Quay & the historic Argyle cut & all this area has to offer. Great hotels, shopping, and walks. the overseas passenger terminal for most cruise lines is also quite close. We stayed in a deluxe room with a very comfortable king bed, ensuite with full size bath plus shower. The room & ensuite were impeccably clean. The continental breakfast was more than adequate in pleasant surrounds . The receptionist was extremely welcoming & helpful. The history of the building is very interesting as well.

When in the Rocks stay at this nice boutique hotel. Close to everything. Clean rooms, make sure you book one with your own bathroom, so you don't have to share with everyone.

The cleanest, well appointed shared bathroom ever, fitting perfectly with the quaint old elegance of the building and it's antiqued, slightly creaky, inconvenient but well maintained edges. The room felt like a period set but with proper lighting, coffees, teas and tableware. Old style window drops down to let out hot air trapped at the ceiling. Windows are clean, breakfast is nice and in a warm, woody, multi level pub setting with prefect view of circular quay.
