The food was average, not spectacular. The confit duck was tasty but small leaving me feeling hungry at the end of the meal. Side of truffle mash didn't have the slightest hint of truffle and wasn't particularly great mash either. Beef was better but a bit dry and under seasoned.
Very disappointing. The atmosphere is gorgeous and the staff are friendly enough but not as professional as one would expect for these prices. The scallop entre was tasty but extremely overpriced for the small portion. The pork belly flavors were boring and it was horribly overcooked. It needed a steak knife to cut through it. The brisket had the right flavours but unfortunately it too was over cooked. Cocktails were hit an miss, definitely wouldn't bank on getting a hit in that department. Whilst I enjoyed the funky space and music I certainly wouldn't dine here again.
It is an unexpected delight to find a bar where the food is treated with the same respect as the drinks. They are serious about their drinks here but it was the food that was the most memorable. Bacon popcorn, lobster risotto and a goose fat gratin were both surprising and sumptuous. Not to be outdone by the chefs, the bar staff are more than happy to create your own personalised cocktail based on your own favourite flavours. If you are heading there for dinner, try and book out the tiny private room at the back - it's the perfect place for a long dining experience.
I was in last night with a friend and after what seems like a few changes of chefs, over the past 18months, they have now got a fantastic one! The menu looked great and the food was amazing, we had the calamari which is a welcome change from salt and pepper squid that is everywhere, the popcorn and the mushroom tartlet which was divine. We had a couple of cocktails and a cheese plate to finish. The service and the cocktails were of a high standard, reasonably priced and it was the perfect place for a great catch up with a friend. It feels so cosy for autumn too. We'll be back for sure to try more on the menu.
Walking down Bondi road I saw this little cocktail bar. I'm so glad we went in to try. The food is out of this world AMAZING. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cocktails are to die for, they taste like a piece of heaven. One of the best cocktails in Sydney. The best in the east comes to mind.
Had such an amazing experience from the food to the service everything was excellent. The waitress was very friendly and efficient, the food was really yummy I especially loved the Panko prawns and the gnocchi and the bartender makes a GREAT cocktail I'll definitely be back
Great for share plates and amazing rum based cocktails. Great atmospheric mood on a dark stormy night. Definitely try the Rum Blazer - great drink and entertainment to match.
Incredible. The attention to detail, mastery of the cooking art, atmosphere, rum selection and service. Everything was perfect. It does not matter if it's for dinner or just aperitivo, treat yourself for once and go to this place.
The Rum Diaries is an innovative cocktail and tapas bar tucked away from the buzzing Bondi Beach, The food is a little overpriced, but you can take advantage of happy hour and choose from an impressive list of rhum-based cocktail yes, the name says it all
Amazing food experience, highly recommend the seafood parihuela! We all loved the food, service and drinks and will definitely return next time we visit Bondi
