The RUC at Turner bowlo is a fully licensed club perfect your next function, dinner, a game of pool or a few drinks and barefoot bowls.

Story

The RUC in Barton has merged with Canberra North Bowling Club Turner, giving a new lease on life to one of Canberra’s most historic bowling establishments. The Turner Bowlo, Turners Bowls or just that bowling club close to Civic, it has gone by many nicknames over the years.

This new merger will ensure that the North Canberra Bowling Club retains almost 60 years of Canberra history, tradition and experience combined with the same award winning food from the grill with fresh quality ingredients, our much loved beer and wine lists and locally roasted ONA coffee.

The only difference is at the RUC at Turner you can enjoy a game of lawn bowls with your afternoon beer, or hold a barefoot bowls competition with your colleagues after work. Enjoy some tunes with music on the green, two large speakers connected to the jukebox ready for every music taste.

It is an offence to supply alcohol to a person under the age of 18 years. Penalties apply.

It was very relaxed on a Tuesday lunchtime. The schnitzels were quite good and the service was top.
Had the work Christmas party here recently and had a wonderful time! Staff were great, had a simple and easy system for having a tab and were happy to help with any questions. Busy, but still had a welcoming atmosphere. Parking: The parking is around the whole building, but when it's busy it can be packed, might have to drive a bit to find a park.
Had an amazing time while travelling from Perth to Canberra, a family friend invited us to dinner and we went to the bistro of the ruc. Had dinner on a Friday night they had a power outage during our visit so was a little delay in food orders after their ordering system crashed and they had a blackout, i think the manager of bistro Winnie if i recall was absolutely awesome in handling the situation on what i remember was only her 3rd week on the job. Lamb cutlets were absolutely divine, beef cheeks are to die for as well as the popcorn cauliflower and wings. If i could i would have taken your chef back to Perth with me to manage my clubs kitchen as well as the bistro manager win. Great stuff Team. 100% worth it.
We went there on a Monday night for a $15 steak deal. Steaks and fries came out cold after 20 min wait which was later communicated to a manager. The place was relatively empty so I'm not sure how did they let it happen. The staff is bunch of kids who would take your food before you finish and mostly just chat and laugh behind the bar table. i feel some extra hospitality training would benefit the business.
Really great place for lawn bowls with excellent bar food and drinks at affordable prices. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to get together with family and friends and for lawn bowls. Yours truly, @fooderarri
Such Mix of people! From uni to retirement this is the spot to have a drink and some food, some lawn bowls, play some pool and watch the game. They also have pokies. Become a member for a nice discount on your drinks and food. Staff are very happy and helpful. Love itFood: 4/5
Called in the afternoon, the girl said they’d play the AFL night game on one of the three big screens. I get there at night with my friends, wait for the game to start, no game on a big screen… ask repeatedly until some bartended tells me they won’t be playing it, regardless of what was said to me. Meanwhile, no one is watching two of the big screens. We wouldn’t have come in the first place. Stuff this place, won’t be going back.
Great vibe on the weekends, decent food and drink options. Lots of TVs, good for live sports! Lawn bowls was fun and the staff are very friendly.
Had a very nice experience when I came for lunch on Sunday. The lady at the desk Holly was very helpful sorting out my membership.
Very busy place. A little pricey for its meals. Popular for meeting up. I am told there's specials and member's prices.
