Story

Northcote punters have inherited a precious gem! After 16 years of trade on Flinders Lane, Melbourne, The Purple Emerald Lounge Bar has relocated, opening its doors to the wonders of High Street, Northcote and it hasn't changed a bit!

This iconic gem was a long time favourite for Melbourne's CBD twenty-somethings. Renowned for its live funk and soul fueled entertainment and quirky vintage decor.
The Purple Emerald has stuck to its roots, keeping to the rustic charm that earned this little treasure it's iconic status as Melbourne's hidden gem.

Closed only on Mondays & Tuesdays, Purple Emerald trades every other day, in the evening making a transition into the funky nightspot it is renowned for. European and Asian infused Tapas are available, along with an impressive cocktail menu, a hand selected wine list, and a solid range of local and imported beers and ciders.

A huge sundeck to the rear of the venue is becoming famous for good times! Northcote-ites love being outside, and the Purple Emerald delivers when it comes to good vibes outdoors! What The Funk Fridays are held at purps every Friday night from 9pm, bringing you the best live funk bands and DJs from accross Melbourne! Entry is always free, open till three!

Dropped in for a couple of beers ended up having a Pavlova martini.. so freaking good.. the bar has fancied up their beer garden and it's looking ace.. the staff are rad as well. 100% recommend.

The bar staff were so very friendly and the cocktails were amazing.  Definitely a place we will be returning to!  A wonderful atmosphere with the couches and movies playing in the background.

Food is delicious. Cocktails are amazing and reasonably priced.

My fave local bar.  Great to be back and to enjoy a beer again. I highly recommend their food and cocktails too. Lovely staff and owner.

Cleanest toilets in Melbourne, great cocktails. Legendary owner. That’s a 5 star from me.
