And icy cold winter morning and a long way from home, but we were catching up with an elderly friend who lives nearby. He really loves this place and we can see why. My friends happily indulged in big hearty breakfasts, while I found happiness in a chocolate brownie that was warm, soft and delicious. Great coffee was enjoyed by all.
The suburban cafe/restaurant is quaint and clean with their own male and female restroom in the space meaning you don't need to get a big loo key to go out to public toilets in the shopping precinct. The menu provides good choice and the food is well presented, delicious and good sized servings at a great price point. The service is prompt and with a smile. Tara our waitress was very friendly, helpful and professional in delivery. Our only grievance would be the cost per head for corkage. Whilst the establishment is licensed you are able to bring along your own wine, our bottle of wine was only $12 for a local suburban cafe this was all we needed, but the corkage charge per person was an additonal $5. Whilst corkage is normal when byo, it would have been nice to have been offered an ice bucket to keep the white wine chilled while we dined, or even had the first glass poured for us, neither of which actions happened. The Pepper Lounge is under new management and becoming more popular with locals and we have no complaints with the establishment, the staff or the food, all of which were as expected for a suburban cafe. But there may need to be some considerations given to reducing the cost of corkage per head or adding some touches like the ice bucket or pouring the first glass to make an impression. Overall a great night. Kid-friendliness: There were no children on the evening that we attended but The Pepper Lounge has a small play area with toys for the children.
Tastiest coffee, very scrumptious meals especially breakfasts. specials on during the week as well. very clean restaurant. inside & outside dining.. highly recommended
The breakfast menu goes all day and the lunch menu is Cafe style. Three of us enjoyed our food and the service was friendly and prompt. The beverage list is limited but offers variety.Food: 5/5
Happily and luckily, hubby and I were able to meet up with Mr. L., my old workmate last week for lunch. We headed to his side of town, and had lunch here at The Pepper Lounge. It’s a nice, large space inside with outdoor seating too. The interior was quite dark in the winter sun, but would be great on a hot summer’s day We had prompt, friendly service with tasty food. I chose the salmon fillet, which came with a citrus salad. The fish was nicely grilled on top, but was a wee bit overdone for me, as I prefer it medium-rare. The salad was refreshing, and came with orange slices, avocado and cherry tomatoes. There were some green leaves and red onion to add extra flavour. Hubby had mushroom risotto, which came with a garnish of cherry tomato and leaves, and a generous sprinkling of parmesan. He really enjoyed this dish, even though he felt more mushrooms would have been a fine thing. We shared the sweet potato chips, which were delicious – a bit crunchy outside, soft inside, with salt lightly cast over them, and served with a creamy sauce aioli?. Mr. L. ate the chicken and halloumi salad. He said it ‘was fine.’ A man of few words, but he ate it all happily. Pieces of grilled chicken laid over a salad of leaves, tomato, and halloumi. I drank a mocha frappe, while hubby had a passionfruit and mango smoothie. Both fine. Mr. L. had a green tea; also fine. Even though the closing time was one pm, they kindly didn’t chuck us out then. It was great to get out of the house, and enjoy a pleasant and good value lunch with a friend, corona-virus restrictions notwithstanding.
We tried the steak and duck carbonara. Steak was average but my duck carbonara wasn't good at all. There was no duck, if any, half a teaspoon. I got all this diced fat bacon pcs and mushrooms galore. My order was actually more expensive than the sirloin steak.
My partner and I have never been here before but are so glad we ate here this morning. The food and coffee was absolutely perfect and we will definitely be coming back!! Thank you!
Tried this place for coffee and a bacon and egg burger as it’s close to my kids school. Coffee is really good, but the bacon and egg burger, freshly cooked was fantastic. I’ve been twice now and each time fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. It is so hard to get a good bacon and egg burger in the centenary suburbs, these guys nailed it!
What a great find!! Busy place on a Tuesday with bogo pizza and pasta and an extensive beverage list. Had nice service and wonderful food. Flatbreads in particular were great and coffee was perfect. Sit outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Went here craving pasta, the particular pasta was only on the specials menu for another night and yet, they still made it for me! Staff are super friendly, and the food is absolutely outstanding
