Very good range of local & imported gourmet products. Fresh fruit & vegetables. Lots of different jams & relish.great for unusual gifts or something special for dinner. Vegan & gluten free foods. Specialty chocolate. Providor. Helpful staff
Went for lunch at The Annexe at the Penguin Pantry, their dining area next to the gourmet grocery store.nnIt has a really nice relaxed ambience - though we arrived at just after 12 the staff informed us that they were almost out of the hot food, only egg & bacon tart and a meat pie left. I ordered the tart only to be told that had been sold so went with meat pie. My wife went with a salad and we both had smoothies. My berry smoothie had way too much coconut for my liking completely masked the berry flavours. The pie, was just a pie with tomato chutney - it was obviously reheated, as the were cold and hot spots throughout.nnWhen paying the bill I couldn’t believe they charged $16 for the pie, it didn’t come with any salad/greens just tomato chutney. Fresh pies at the bakery are only $7.50. It was very overpriced for what they provide, still searching for a good cafe in Penguin.
Always a pleasure to visit this store. We travel 30 kms just to buy the sour dough bread from Pigeon Bakery which comes all the way from Hobart!
GOOD coffee. We ordered Latte and Dirty Chai, and both are awesome.
