"A tightly held secret, tucked away in the residential streets of Parkville. Operating since 1884 as a grocer shop thru to its now classic 'Melbourne Cafe' styling, Parkville Store serves breakfast and lunch, both for the grab-and-go customer and a wonderful dine-in experience for those seeking a modern Italian lunch fare. This was such a fantastic find. The mushroom toastie was delicious plus. Coffee and service excellent as well. My husband had the scrambled egg roti which was also yum. Will Def come back next time in Melbourne.
I love this place. It was our old milk bar! Delicious food, good coffee and a lovely quiet spot.
Wonderful atmosphere in a beautiful Victorian style residential area. Seating both inside and outside along the quiet leafy streets. Delicious fresh food and the absolute best lemon tart I’ve ever had. The cafe is so stylish and the entire aesthetic is cohesive, with dark European finishes and retro signage. A cafe that is clearly curated with love, I will definitely be visiting again.
Very glutinous toasty with cheese . Nice coffee Pleasant location
Appears closed. First full weekend Out of lockdown and public holiday. Everyone out and spending money. No one must want coffees in this stores world. Cannot understand the modern business owner who complains about trading conditions then wants to run a business as if they worked in an office again and have of the major holidays.
My favourite cafe in Melbourne. Relaxed feel. The food is amazing - the cook/chef is very talented and knows how to incorporate sophisticated textures and perfectly balanced flavours into simple, good food. I love this cafe!
Very nice place for a sit down meal or a takeaway in a great place too. No real qualms with the place, it's not stand out and the service could have been a little faster. Semantics aside, it was a fine experience and I would absolutely recommend.
Really friendly staff and nice coffee. I've studied here for an hour and it is a great study spot. 4 out of 5 because the staff was so busy with all the take-away coffees, that it took them a while to notice me. I would have liked a second coffee as well, but it was hard to get their attention. No big problem though, it was fine anyway!
Lovely setting, but the service was terrible and the food was very average. No menus only blackboards inside. We waited for 40 minutes for someone to take our order and even after asking someone cleaning a table still no one came. I loudly asked my companion whether we needed to go up to the counter to order and someone finally asked us if we would like to order. When I asked for a side of bacon with my meal, I was told that wasn't possible, which seemed very strange but became clear when the food came out in 2 minutes flat and was clearly prepared and reheated rather than fresh. Bleh. Won't be back, which is a shame because it could be a wonderful neighbourhood destination. Edit: terrible response from owner below. Cafe was basically empty not busy. So defensive and rude. Just improve your service rather than getting mad at people who review it. Reduced to 1 star.
Found this little Gem restaurant, was feeling down while my son was at Royal Melbourne Hosp. Walked in with such warmth and beautiful service, which really cheered me up. The atmosphere was just lovely and the service was superb. Would recommend to my friends to visit this gorgeous, friendly old world restaurant. Not forgetting the lovely sandwich was great also. Thankyou
