Was sent to Palms from Palmy ED as they were extra busy, apparently they do this with some patients, cost is covered, I said good morning and before I had even handed my information from the hospital, I got the “ we can’t see you, we’re at capacity” from receptionist, no hello or good morning, just can’t see you, go to city drs. I did get a bit teary once back to my car, stress…..I don’t mind being told that they can’t treat me but a little empathy goes a long way, a very bad first impression. Perhaps some training for these folks would be in line.
Drop in medical centre including a dentist and pharmacy. My partner broke a tooth and the sharp edges caused an ulcer. We this had over 2 weeks of our holiday left so we had to get fixed. They treated her within 2 hours of our arrival and were most helpful.
First visit to the Palms, hopefully my last. Receptionist was uninterested, and unfriendly, luckily the other one knew what to do. The nurse was cold, underwelming, judgemental, and unable to actually smile considering her young age, and the fact a poor student nurse was watching her. I work at Palmerston North hospital, and was quite shocked at the general unfriendly attitude here, I sympathize with anyone who has to go here on a regular basis, Cheer up guys!
I am writing to raise a serious concern about the conduct of a new receptionist at your office. She is the youngest member of the reception team and has only been there for the past few months. I have been a patient at your practice for over 15 years, and in all that time, I have never experienced such rudeness. Every time I have interacted with her, whether by phone or in person, she has been abrupt and unkind. Most recently, when I was calmly explaining a problem about my medication situation, she interrupted me, dismissed my concerns, and then hung up when I respectfully pointed out she was being once again rude. I want to stress that as a long-term patient, I have consistently trusted and valued your care. It is unacceptable that a new staff member, who clearly does not understand how long I have been a patient, would treat me this way. I ask that you address this behavior immediately, as I expect nothing less than professional and respectful service to your patients.
I’ve been coming to The Palms Medical Centre for over 9 years. I’m not complaining about the doctors—they do their job well. But one of the receptionists, who has been there for a long time, is often rude and unprofessional. She should know how to treat patients with respect and not judge people or their situations in a sarcastic way. That’s the doctor’s role, not the receptionist’s. I’m really disappointed with how I was treated.
