This is an absolutely brilliant Main Street cafe. Superb food and coffee. Lovely service. We simply could not fault this cafe. My companions had the avo on toast and loved it. Beautifully presented and composed. It’s a cracking dish. I had the porridge dish which is incredibly good. The others tried it too and agreed. Whoever came up with this dish and/or prepared it is a genius. It’s as good a combination of modern and retro as I’ve experienced for a long time. Beautifully fluffy texture, incredible aroma and flavours and lovely fruit. It’s a top class offering. Our coffees were brilliant too. So this place has everything. Service throughout was faultless and genuinely friendly, cheery and efficient. This is a wonderful cafe. It would put many higher priced and frankly pompous big city cafes to shame. Bravo The Merchant and bravo Benalla!
Breakfast stop on a Roadtrip down to Melbourne. Perfect coffee and we loved the food, some unique menu options such as the okonomiyaki Japanese pancake. Great group of people working there with a warm welcome when we came in and efficient and friendly service throughout.
