A great experience! We adopted a lovely little boy from here about a week ago. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend lost Dogs Home if you're looking for a new furbaby.
Our dogs were taken there. They got our of the gate. When l rang they hadn't even processed them as they had been there for 10 minutes. They then went on to tell me it will be over $1000 to get them back. I can see why they are so full. They make it so unaffordable for people to get their pets back. They justify it by blaming the council. They are there to make money off people's pets.
I went in wanting to adopt a cat, told the staff about the cat I already had at home as i was worried about them getting along and they recommended the perfect match! He is the sweetest angel and they became friends almost instantly. Staff were friendly, the process was quick, and the price was great compared to other shelters. They were transparent about any health conditions he's had and we got a free vet consultation because of an issue i was worried about. What I didn't like so much was that I wasn't allowed to go into the vet room with my cat and had to wait outside.
Following the death of our dog, a Miniature Australian Bulldog, Pippa, who was my wife’s shadow. We visited The Cranbourne lost dogs home but most a available were really not right for older folk like us. We needed a slightly older dog because, in our 70s we wanted to outlive the next pooch. Out of the blue on last Friday night I just got onto the website and found a likely candidate, Barry, an almost 8 year old greyhound who we met next day and returned home the same day with Barry. He has made an incredibly fantastic impression, if only for the fact that his love for food exceeds even my needs. He sits near the wife until I go anywhere near the kitchen or the fridge , and then hovers between tge fridge and his empty bowl. He is a most loveable glutton. Thanks to Lauren for introducing us and thanks today to Annie for sorting out some medications. What a very great place for animals needing a home . Good work, and thanks heaps. Barry has already enlivened our house, he’s a ripper! From what I read the negative comments come mostly from people who are unloading their pers because they should not have had them anyway. It’s damned easy to blame others for what you refuse to do yourself.
Bit depressing. I was told there was a staffy cross 4 months old and was told it would be over 1100. Which is fair enough but when I got out there the 4 month old pup was I think older than and not a staffy but a mixed breed big big dog. Named Stewie.. ID like to say it was a waste going out there because of the petrol the traffic it wouldn't have been a waste if I had of been told and heard more on the phone. There were no other pups . As In under 1100. . It's alot of money when this dog was a stray and without a DNA test he could of been anything. Beautiful dog but way to big and I was told staffy cross. There was no staffy in him but he was beautiful.
The dog had kennel cough which we had to buy medication for, they lied about his age. We paid to have him registered. When we took him back they acted like we did something wrong. I will never go there again
Friendly staff and easy adoption process. We're so in love with our little kitten
If you love or care about animals in any capacity, please, please, don't go here. Don't make the same mistake I did and ignore other people warning you about this place! Rescued a sweet stray cat and left him in their care as he was being bullied by other street cats. We would have adopted him if we hadn't already rescued 3 other cats. We were told he would only be euthanized if he has life threatening injuries. Got a phone call 2 weeks later, they put him down because of "behavioural issues". No alternative options, he was already dead. I have dozens of home videos of my partner and I looking after, bathing him, petting him and letting us carry him around our house. No option to take him elsewhere or find him a home ourselves as it's illegal. Completely unjust and cruel. It's within their "policy" to kill cats that are stressed out in their small cages with loud dogs barking outside. He would be a happy house cat had we never brought him to this kill shelter. We are beyond devastated by this news and appalled by the unprofessionalism and lack of transparency. To reiterate, don't adopt, don't surrender, don't donate to this dishonest organisation. I'm completely depressed about the dead cat and beyond infuriated they lied to me about their intentions. Willing to discuss my review further with management should you see fit. TL/DR - if you leave a stray here they'll tell you you won't kill it, but as soon as the quarantine period is over they'll euthanise it.
My wife, daughter 18 months and I attended the lost dogs home in cranbourne. We were given Annie to discuss our options and in terms of adopting our new dog. She was a little sceptical about Lily dog being around toddlers. But noticed how positive their interaction was. I don't think Annie could have matched us with a better family friendly dog. We have a new furry family member, but our daughter has a new best friend. Annie your a champion!!!
Awful place for any animal to be . Didn’t call the owner after they got our dog , though knew his name when he called looking for his pet. Why? To make more money by keeping the dog there over weekend for no reason. Disgusted that this is the people that supposed to look after us and our pets. Money making business
